Home prices and crime rates lower than nearby Pittsburgh

Once a bustling railroad town just outside of Pittsburgh, Pitcairn is now a tiny Pennsylvania borough called home by roughly 3,100 people. With three Christian houses of worship, it’s a town where community events are held at one of the local churches or the town’s main park, Pitcairn Park. Homes are relatively cheap, with a median selling price of $85,000 compared to a median of $161,000 in nearby Monroeville. Compared to Pittsburgh’s CAP index of 8, Pitcairn’s CAP of 5 indicates that crime rates are lower in Pitcairn than in other areas around the city.
