Neighbors help neighbors in Perry South
Perry South has a rich history. Developed as a streetcar suburb in the late 1800s and settled by European immigrants, Perry South became one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Pittsburgh. The community was originally designed as a residential area and remains that way today. Folks in Perry South work hard to preserve its history while fostering new efforts to grow. “The culture here is rooted in the neighborhood mentality of Pittsburgh,” says Dell Treese, Office Manager at the Pittsburgh Project. “That means neighbors helping neighbors.” From revitalization efforts and charity work to simple neighborly acts, Perry South is a community-oriented neighborhood many are happy to call home.
