Bunker features a mix of older and newer homes in various styles. There are traditional brick ranch-style houses, but there are also homes with Tudor-inspired features like half-timbered facades and Spanish Revival homes with red tile roofs. “Homes in this neighborhood usually have beautiful mature trees and sidewalks—and you have space between homes,” Bologna says. “The homes were typically built in the 70s, but many have been remodeled and updated, and yet you still get a nice sized backyard to barbecue and entertain.” Most single-family homes in the neighborhood have sold for between $350,000 to $850,000, with a few spacious homes having gone for over $1 million. Condominiums and townhouses are also available in Bunker and have sold for between $190,000 and $290,000. "Bunker stands out with its competitive home prices, offering more value compared to nearby areas," Lankri says.
Students assigned to the Plano Independent School District
Students in Bunker are assigned to attend schools within the Plano Independent School District. Starting in kindergarten, children may attend Davis Elementary, which earns a B-plus grade from Niche. In sixth grade, students may move on to Haggard Middle School, which also earns a B-plus. From there, students move on to Plano Senior High School, which receives an A grade. Plano Senior High’s athletic teams have a history of success, winning seven football state championships and 10 combined championships between the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams. There are multiple parks nearby in Plano for some outdoor recreation. “Plano is known in the Metroplex for its parks,” says Kimberly Woodard, a Realtor with Ebby Halliday Realtors. Caddo Park has a playground, picnic tables and ample green space to throw a football or frisbee around. Just south of Bunker is Hackberry Park, which has a playground, basketball court, a walking trail and green space for various activities. Cooper Creek Playground has sports fields, picnic tables and a playground. Residents looking for a longer trek can access the Chisholm Trail at several points throughout the neighborhood. The paved multi-use trail meanders for nearly 6 miles through the city and is popular with runners, hikers and bikers. The nearby Plano Aquatic Center is a popular place for swimming, no matter what the weather is like outside. The facility has an indoor 25-yard lap pool, play area, and outdoor spray ground. The aquatic center is available for birthday parties and other events and offers swim lessons and day camps.
All-you-can-eat pizza buffet at Mama’s Pizza
Mama’s Pizza sells subs and pizza and has an all-you-can-eat buffet option for pizza and salads. Pizza is the main attraction, but the cinnamon rolls are immensely popular with diners. Plano Sports Tavern is the neighborhood spot to catch a game and serves American favorites like wings and beer. Sushi Sakana offers a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes inside an upscale interior. Kroger and Walmart Neighborhood Market are in the neighborhood for groceries and everyday essentials.
Proximity to U.S. Route 75
Bunker is bordered by U.S. Route 75, giving residents easy access to Downtown Dallas, 21 miles away. Downtown Fort Worth is a 48-mile drive away. As for public transportation, commuters can use the Dallas Area Rapid Transit bus system, otherwise known as Dart, from a stop on Parker Road.
