Deerfield echoes with community, just outside of major shopping hubs

Located in northwest Plano, Deerfield is a quiet, relaxed neighborhood – most of the time. "It's very quiet and peaceful for the most part," says Melissa Evertson, the broker and owner of Evertson Realty. "We have a huge Christmas thing we do every year. Everyone decorates with lights, and it's fun and festive. But the remainder of the year, it's very quiet." With high community spirit and a convenient location near major highways and shopping, it's easy to see why this neighborhood is desirable for homebuyers.

Larger lots showcase Colonial Revival and Tudor-inspired homes

Houses in Deerfield are mostly traditional brick homes on tree-lined neighborhood streets. Homes were often built from the 1990s through the 2000s. Several Millennium Mansions offer a unique mix of styles with stone exteriors and eclectic brick facades. Colonial Revival and Tudor-inspired homes, often with steep, sloping roofs, can also be found. "Something really unique is the lot sizes are larger than the lots around us," Evertson says. "Most of our lots are around a quarter-acre to a third of an acre." Traditional brick homes typically range from $600,000 to $800,000 for four or five bedrooms. Other housing options include townhouses with state-of-the-art kitchens and bathrooms. Some even have smart home features that control overhead lighting, HVAC and garage doors. Older two-bedroom townhouses are priced around $350,000, while newer models can be priced as high as $600,000.

Locals frequent nearby Lt. Russell Steindam Park

Evertson says residents enjoy spending time at Lt. Russell Steindam Park, a small neighborhood park with a walking trail, playground, basketball court and two baseball fields. She says neighborhood families often frequent the park, with the parents enjoying a walk around the park as kids play a game of baseball or climb on the playground. Two trails meander through the neighborhood, giving residents space to get outside and enjoy some exercise through the city. Legacy Trail is a 4.4-mile trail on the neighborhood's west side along the scenic White Rock Creek. The Preston Ridge Trail is on the east side and can be taken for 6.2 miles one way.
