Russell Creek-Cross Creek
New Traditional to the north, ranch-style to the south
To the north of Legacy Drive, New Traditional homes define most of the neighborhood. With rear-facing garages and alleys, the front yards can be large and landscaped with sidewalks covering the neighborhood. Prices can range from $400,000 to $620,000. While street parking is possible, the streets rarely fill up with vehicles, leaving the front of properties clear to feature the front of homes better. Most homes have red brick exteriors, and many come with a backyard pool, although these are more common with New Traditional homes instead of ranch-style. To the south of Legacy Drive is a smaller section of ranch-style homes, although with similar features of rear-facing garages, large front yards, and sidewalks that cover the area. Prices for ranch-style homes will be a little lower, beginning around $320,000 and reaching about $509,000.Highly rated public schools offering Advanced Placement in Plano

High schoolers first attend Clark High for ninth and 10th grade before moving to Plano Senior High for 11th and 12th grade. Clarke earns a B-plus while Plano Senior earns an A from Niche. About 2 miles south of the neighborhood, Big Lake Park sits to the east of a lake that allows fishing. Big Lake Park also has a walking path and a playground. The Courses at Watters Creek, about 1.5 miles to the east, has multiple public golf courses, including the 18-hole Traditions course and the 9-hole Players course.Multiple shopping and retail within 5 miles
While mostly a residential neighborhood, there is a wide selection of retail options, including a Tom Thumb grocery store within the neighborhood. Next door to Tom Thumb, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice specializes in layering Italian Ice, ice cream and add-ins such as Oreo cookie crumbles, sprinkles, chocolate chips and more. “Watters Creek Crossing is this little shopping center probably less than eight minutes away,” says Oakley. “There’s a ton of great shopping there.” An outdoor mall about 2 miles east, Watters Creek Crossing has over 50 stores and restaurants, including Sephora and JOY Macarons.
Close to 75 without the tolls
U.S. Highway 75, to the east of the neighborhood, is a north-south highway that begins in Dallas before heading north to the Oklahoma state line. While several toll roads exist throughout the Dallas area, Russell Creek-Cross Creek is further east from most of the toll routes. “It’s easy when you live in Plano or Richardson to avoid the tolls,” Oakley says. While the neighborhood is a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, about 25 miles north of Dallas, it is further north in Plano and has no public transportation. “Some people might commute into Dallas, and there’s another corridor in Richardson that has a lot of businesses,” Oakley says.Live music in downtown Plano and farming museum
The Courtyard Theater, located in Downtown Plano, hosts concerts, stage plays and musicals in a 321-seat theater. The Plano Urban Music Festival, located at the McCall Plaza in downtown Plano, is a free event that showcases local artists in June. About 4 miles south, the Heritage Farmstead Museum showcases what life was like for farmers and agricultural workers. In the summer, the museum has a Farm Camp where students from kindergarten to fifth grade can participate in a week-long camp. The camp includes farm chores, outdoor games and learning more about the historic farmstead.
