Stoney Hollow
Traditional homes with brick and stone flair
Along the relatively wide, flat streets of the Stoney Hollow neighborhood, many homes here are built in traditional styles. These are large, multi-level residences with stone or brick exteriors, other property flair includes meticulous landscaping, Cape Cod-inspired designs on upper-level windows and more. Prices typically range from between $550,000 to about $800,000, though on occasion a home will be listed in the million-dollar range or higher. “Stoney Hollow mostly has the typically larger, 3,000 square feet-plus, traditional-style homes of the Plano area,” Burgess says. “There’s also some ranch-style homes and bungalows as well.” Homes in Stoney Hollow were almost exclusively built in the 1990s and 2000s.A-rated schools near Stoney Hollow
Students’ educational journey can begin at Hickey Elementary School, the only place for schooling located within Stoney Hollow. Within the Plano Independent School District, Hickey Elementary scores an A with Niche, while its enrollment graduates to Bowman Middle School for sixth through eighth grades. Bowman Middle receives an A-minus from Niche, while Plano East Senior High School scores an A-plus for its education of grades nine through 12. Niche also ranks Plano East Senior High 37th of nearly 2,000 public high schools statewide, and clubs for its students include organizations focused on audio-video production, fashion, computer science and student council.Nearby thoroughfares to get around Texas
Stoney Hollow lies less than five miles east of U.S. Route 75, which begins in Dallas and runs as far north as the Canadian border through the Midwestern states. It’s also about 15 minutes northeast of the interchange between Route 75 and the President George Bush Turnpike, which intersects with 75 near the CityLine shopping mall. Via the Turnpike, which forms a semicircle around the Dallas area, motorists can reach areas like Arlington, Garland and Plano, and convenience via the DART Rail System line is also nearby. About half an hour west of Stoney Hollow sits Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the country, for those looking to hop a flight to their next destination.Heading west for eats, retail and more
Since Stoney Hollow is almost entirely residential, those living in the neighborhood will have to venture beyond its boundaries to find local shopping and dining outlets. To the west, K Avenue has a number of local eateries on and around it like Poor Richard’s Café, the Fillmore Pub and Lemma Coffee Co. "People also frequent locally-owned places like Hutchins BBQ for their delicious barbecue," says Levi Lascsak, a Realtor with EXP Realty with more than four years of experience in the area. "Milo's has elevated comfort food, and national chains like P.F. Chang's and Red Lobster are also nearby." Locals can find groceries at Target and Costco locations along the North Central Expressway, farther west of K Avenue, or at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on East Park Boulevard to the south.Enjoying local parks’ amenities
At Stoney Hollow Park, which covers a significant amount of space just left of the neighborhood’s center, visitors can walk and bike along its trails, clamber onto the playground or practice on the athletic fields. Anglers can cast a line into its lake, while those there to relax can sit by its calm, sun-kissed waters. "Stoney Hollow is one of the most popular parks in the area," Burgess says. "Oak Point Park is also close by, and it's massive. It's where they have the Plano Balloon Festival, which is one of the biggest attractions of that area." Cottonwood Creek also winds its way through Stoney Hollow Park and diagonally through the neighborhood.Downtown boutiques and nearby festivals
About 15 minutes southwest of Stoney Hollow, downtown Plano serves as another destination for general needs, entertainment and more. From its florist shops and barbershops, its boutiques and outlets are a short drive from the neighborhood. Personal care at The Hair Parlour or Rapattoni’s Barbershop are both downtown, as are the Tom Thumb grocery store and Georgia’s Farmers Market. At Oak Point Park, the Plano Balloon Festival has drawn spectators for nearly half a century, and the hot-air balloon display is complemented by the “High in the Texas Sky” Drone Show when night falls.
