Colonial, French and midcentury-inspired homes have spacious yards

Gigantic lots make for large yards for entertaining and outdoor recreation, and spacious homes make the living quite comfortable. Traditional brick homes don countless windows for plenty of natural light, while some with French-inspired features add a unique touch to the aura of the area. Split-level homes bring a classic flavor, and every home’s very well-manicured lawn is accented with well-maintained hedges and gardens. New construction is also popping up in the area, making room for more residents to call the township home. Prices range from the $400,000s all the way up to the $800,000s, with new builds topping off in the $700,000s.

American history is on display at parks, museums and along bike trails

The Gunsolly Mills Recreation Area makes for a great gathering spot, with covered pavilions and picnic areas to accommodate large parties and dirt track hills for model car racing. Located in the park, the Gunsolly Mills Comfort Station was formerly the site of the Ford family’s carding mill. Tying in the 2-mile Rouge River Gateway Greenway, the Hines Park Trails provides 19.5 miles of hike and bike trails that connect residents between Dearborn and Northville. Winding through the campus of the University of Michigan-Dearborn, the trail takes you to the very popular Greenfield Village, an outdoor museum that chronicles 300 years of American history. The museum is comprised of seven historic districts and covers 80 acres.

Covering 6,009 yards, the 18-hole Hilltop Golf Course is dotted with flourishing pine trees and features satisfyingly challenging greens spread across its rolling hills. Picture-perfect holes and an elevated tee box allow for captivating panoramic views of the entire area. With an onsite golf shop in the clubhouse, the golf course also offers a bar and grill for dining and hosts several events during the year, like the Spooky Scramble every Halloween.
