A coastal community with a growing arts scene
Downtown Pompano Beach, also known as “Old Town,” sits at the heart of the south Florida city. Originally established as a hub for local farmers to haul their produce to train lines headed north, initiatives from the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency and locals have seen the area cultivate a new reputation as Pompano’s hub for arts and culture, letting residents enjoy some of the area’s highlights without having to travel south to Miami or Fort Lauderdale. "There's a lot more activity by the beach now, it's grown leaps and bounds, and over here, they're making great improvements around Atlantic Boulevard," says Howard Berkowitz, broker and owner of Sky Beach Realty. Berkowitz has sold homes in the South Florida area for more than 35 years. "There is a great effort to reinvent the look of Pompano and a definite focus on this city, unlike what I've seen in other areas. You've got to get in now, then wait and see," Berkowitz says.

Close to 7th Avenue, Kester Park offers a more casual neighborhood park setting.
