Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport very close to the Palm Aire neighborhood.
More than golf
The Palm Aire County Club is just north of the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, near where Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF play soccer matches. The condos and single-family homes surround multiple courses that make up the country club. “Palm Aire is not exclusively a golf community,” says Brian Hernandez, a Realtor with RE/MAX First with nearly 15 years of experience. “You don’t need to be a member to live here. It has all the feel of a gated, exclusive community without having any of those characteristics.” The Vizcaya Condominium complex is one of the few gated communities.

Multiple golf courses
The neighborhood gets its name from the country club, a social golfing destination with a rich history that dates to 1959, when it was initially founded as the Palms Golf Course. What was originally five courses are now three, the Palms, Oaks and Cypress courses. They all present a challenge for golfers of all abilities. The club also offers a golfing academy, two shops and two driving ranges. It also hosts a junior golf summer camp where PGA and LPGA professionals will help children develop all the skills to become better golfers.
Harrah`s Casino is just a few blocks away from the Palm Aire neighborhood.
Community around the courses
About a decade after the golf course opened, other amenities spread within the community. In the early ‘70s, a luxurious hotel opened near The Palms course on the eastern side. That hotel is the Wyndham Palm-Aire Resort, which is a gated hotel where a reservation is required to enter the grounds. Some amenities include a spa, fitness center and two swimming pools. The Herb Skolnick Recreation Center is the home of a weekly farmers market on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with fresh foods and local artisans showing off their wares. The center also has a stage, an auditorium, a kitchen and four meeting rooms. Harrah’s Pompano Beach Casino is just across Powerline Road and has over 1,200 slot machines, electronic table games and over 40 live-action poker tables.
There are multiple housing styles in the Palm Aire neighborhood.
Condos and single-family homes
In the late 1960s and early ‘70s, the original condos were built around the golf courses, with the first around the Palms Course near Powerline Road. These are mainly garden-style and mid-rise condos. Prices range from $250,000 to $350,000, with added monthly association fees ranging from $600 to $1,000, including access to a fitness center, community pool and clubhouse. “Even though a condo community may have a pool, it’s not exclusive to that community. It’s a very wide-open policy that outdoor pools can be used among various condo developments,” Hernandez says. The newer condos were built around the Oaks and Cypress courses. These units were built between the mid-1970s and the early 2000s. In this section, there are more high-rise condos. Prices can range from $300,000 to $550,000, with monthly fees between $500 and $1,000. There are also some townhouse communities. Single-family homes are along the south edge of the courses and feature small villas without a golf course view and larger estates that back up to the course. Price ranges here run from $600,000 to over $1 million.
There are several smaller lakes in the Palm Aire neighborhood.
Lakes instead of additional courses
In the eastern section of Palm Aire are large lakes that used to be additional courses at the country club. Instead, they are tranquil water settings with mid to high-rise condos surrounding them and a walking path that takes walkers and joggers along the lake’s coastline. In addition to the golf course and the amenities within condo communities, George Brummer Park is on Palm Aire Drive. It has 5 acres, a playground, tennis court, bocce ball facilities and an exercise area. It’s a short drive south to catch Lionel Messi and the rest of Inter Miami CF play at the new Chase Field.
