Stretching along the pristine coastline of Jacksonville’s Ponte Vedra Beach, Sawgrass is a luxurious masterplanned neighborhood comprising two large, gated communities, the Country Club and Players Club. In the beachfront Country Club, some homes have private wooden walkways that lead straight to the ocean. The Players Club encompasses small lakes and waterways and offers some lakefront properties. From small cottages to Mediterranean mansions
The streets within Sawgrass’ two neighborhoods are wide, designed to wind gently around their central golf courses. Both communities are made up of smaller subdivisions that break off into cul-de-sacs. While the Players Club subdivision is slightly larger than the Country Club community, Sawgrass as a whole includes 3,000 homes. A mix of single-family houses, condos and townhomes built between the late 1970s and ‘90s populate the neighborhood. Architecture ranges from small one-story traditional ranch-style homes and cottages to multi-story Mediterranean mansions; smaller homes start at around $260,000, while larger properties average $3 million. Homeowners associations manage both divisions of the neighborhood.

Sawgrass Village Mall, the focal point for retail in Ponte Vedra Beach, is within 2 miles of Sawgrass. The outdoor shopping center offers a number of independent boutiques, art galleries, restaurants and even a Publix for groceries. Residents can have a casual brunch at Metro Diner, known for their chicken and waffles, or splurge on an elegant seafood dinner at Aqua Grille.

Pro golf and tennis tournaments
The Players Championship golf tournament is held in Sawgrass each March. During the tournament, the Sawgrass Clubhouse (located in the Players Club community) brings together thousands of spectators from across the country to watch golf pros compete, making the neighborhood a little busier than usual. Golf isn’t the only popular sport in Sawgrass. Tennis players flock to the Sawgrass Country Club’s impressive Racquet Club, a 13-court complex that hosts professional tennis matches and holds up to 3,000 spectators. Sawgrass also hosts seasonal, family-friendly events like the Halloween Haunted House and Winterfest, a holiday banquet where residents gather for photos, food and face painting.

A private community shuttle system
Sawgrass Players Club offers its own shuttle system to take residents through nine stops within the neighborhood, including the fitness center, golf clubhouse and beach club. Residents can use the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s 25 bus to get around Jacksonville. The closest major highway to Ponte Vedra Beach is the US 1-95, located roughly 5 miles away.
