Widely considered the NASCAR Cup Series' biggest race of the year, tourists flock to the area in droves to watch the world's best racers in person. "We do certainly have an increase in population when the Daytona 500 comes around," Lee says. "But our area is more than just the racing. We have spring break down here, we have Bike Week down here, we have Biketoberfest down here. We're very fortunate to be a sought-after area."

Locals should be prepared for hurricane season
Florida isn't called the Sunshine State for nothing. Thanks to its subtropical climate and ocean breezes, it's become one of the top vacation spots in the United States. However, the pretty weather doesn't always last. "We get our share of thunderstorms and rain, and when we have a long stretch of it, we go, 'Welcome to Florida. Enjoy the sunshine,'" Lee says. "Obviously, it's very warm during the summer, but it's a gorgeous place to live." Locals are also advised to take caution during hurricane season. Though Port Orange isn't impacted by hurricanes as much as South Florida, those living close to the river may experience flooding.
