Harbour Point offers riverfront views in Port Orange
Harbour Point sure lives up to its name. A small Port Orange community extending onto the banks of the Halifax River, Harbour Point residents enjoy waterfront views and access to an array of coastal amenities. Given its proximity to Daytona Beach, Port Orange has become a top destination for summertime vacations over the years. Many visit the area for the Daytona 500 or Bike Week, though the area's steadily rising population suggests more people are moving in for the long haul. "So many people turn around and buy a second home down here or they'll move down here completely," says local realtor Linda Lee of ERA Grizzard Real Estate, who has sold several dozen homes in and around Port Orange. "It's not all just beach and fun. We've got some great museums and a lot of good cultural stuff as well, so it's a very diversified area."
Spruce Creek Recreational Facility is a community hub
Harbour Point residents are only a short drive from outdoor recreation. Spruce Creek Park is just a mile south of the neighborhood, offering over 3 miles of nature trails and picturesque views of the wetlands. The Spruce Creek Recreational Facility is another area hot spot 3 miles southwest. Kids let their imaginations run wild at the pirate-themed playground, while pet owners meet for playdates at Seemor Memorial Dog Park. Off South Nova Road, golfers practice their swing at Inlet Golf Range, while the neighboring Tiki Adventure Zone offers a host of family-friendly attractions from go-karts and bumper boats to mini golf and arcade games.
Harbour Point offers ranch-style duplexes with river views
Ranch-style homes reign supreme throughout Harbour Point. Single-story duplexes with low-pitched roofs and access to the Halifax River line Harbour Point Drive, while detached properties constructed between the 1970s and '80s can be found along Riverside Drive. Most detached homes price between $200,000 and $400,000, though a two-bedroom unit in a riverfront duplex may sell for over $500,000.
Harbor Point also has 2 story more eclectic homes.

Port Orange locals partake in many of Daytona Beach's various events
Just a short drive from Daytona Beach, Port Orange has adopted some of its neighboring town's endearing quirks. Racing is one of those character traits. Each February, the entire Daytona Beach area, including Port Orange, comes alive for the Daytona 500 at the Daytona International Speedway. Widely considered the NASCAR Cup Series' biggest race of the year, tourists flock to the area in droves to watch the world's best racers in person. "We do certainly have an increase in population when the Daytona 500 comes around," Lee says. "But our area is more than just the racing. We have spring break down here, we have Bike Week down here, we have Biketoberfest down here. We're very fortunate to be a sought-after area."
The Pavilion at Port Orange sits nearby with revered eateries in between
For groceries, locals typically travel to Winn-Dixie 2 miles west on South Nova Road, while additional big-box retailers can be found 6 miles west at The Pavilion at Port Orange off South Williamson Boulevard. Residents are also a short drive from revered eateries. Tim's Corner, dressed in Buffalo Bills memorabilia, has been serving burgers and sandwiches to the area since 1995, while Hidden Treasure Tiki Bar & Grill less than a mile south on Route 1 offers specialty cocktails along with stunning views of Rose Bay.

Locals should be prepared for hurricane season
Florida isn't called the Sunshine State for nothing. Thanks to its subtropical climate and ocean breezes, it's become one of the top vacation spots in the United States. However, the pretty weather doesn't always last. "We get our share of thunderstorms and rain, and when we have a long stretch of it, we go, 'Welcome to Florida. Enjoy the sunshine,'" Lee says. "Obviously, it's very warm during the summer, but it's a gorgeous place to live." Locals are also advised to take caution during hurricane season. Though Port Orange isn't impacted by hurricanes as much as South Florida, those living close to the river may experience flooding.
