The Port St. Lucie experience at a more affordable price
Northport Village is a small residential community on Port St. Lucie’s north side that draws newcomers to its quiet streets with its affordability. But according to Jason Coley, a team lead with Atlantic Shores Realty who sells throughout the Treasure Coast, there is a reason for the lower prices. “It’s not as convenient to the highways because of the location,” Coley says. To get to Florida’s Turnpike, most residents must travel across the neighborhood to its west side. And then if they want to reach the Interstate 95, the drive is even longer. This insulation from major roadways has its perks, though. Traffic and noise in the community is low, which gives it a sleepy, suburban vibe that many are seeking when they come to Port St. Lucie, leaving behind the more bustling cities like West Palm Beach and Ft. Lauderdale.
Traditional ranch-styles and contemporary homes
Northport Village offers a mix of two- and three-bedroom ranch-style homes from the 1980s and 1990s and three- and four-bedroom contemporary homes from the early 2000s. Prices range from the low $200,000s to the mid-$600,000s, with higher prices garnering square footage, recent renovations, or backyard access to the canals that branch off from the nearby St. Lucie River. Houses sit back a bit on their lots, giving residents roomy front yards and substantial driveways. Two-car garages are standard and valuable since the narrow residential streets aren't ideal for parking. However, the roads are quiet and don't see much traffic. Mature trees are plentiful throughout the neighborhood, dotting roadways, adorning front yards and lining backyards.

Sportsmans Park highlights an impressive menu of parks
Proximity to Sportsman Park is a huge draw for families with kids since it's the location of many PSL Athletics Association games. The park also offers an outdoor fitness area featuring cardio bikes, an elliptical and an arm bike that users can connect to their fitness trackers. QR codes on each machine provide video demonstrations on how to use it. The city relaunched the fitness area in 2021 along with the playground, which now features all-ability style equipment and has separate areas for younger and older children. Girl Scout Friendship Park is another ample green space in the neighborhood, and it also offers a playground, baseball and softball fields and a cricket ball field.
