Insulated yet close to some of Port St. Lucie's best amenities

The Tulip Park neighborhood on Port St. Lucie’s south side is coveted for its convenience and suburban feel. The community is characterized by quiet streets and backyards perfect for playtime, says Sandra Terpening, a real estate agent with Keller William Realty of Port St. Lucie. “It’s definitely got a tight-knit feel and is a great place to raise a family,” she says. Terpening, who sells throughout the Treasure Coast, says Port St. Lucie has been growing in the past 10 years, drawing Floridians from larger metropolitan areas looking for more of a community. “I moved to Port St. Lucie from Tampa and love it,” she says. “I still love Tampa, but it’s gotten so big. Port St. Lucie is growing, but it still has that community feel. It’s bloomed and blossomed so much over the years.”

2000s-era ranch-style and New Traditional homes

Most homes here are ranch-style or New Traditional and were built in the 2000s. Some older ranch-style houses are scattered throughout the neighborhood, and many were recently renovated. Homes are snug, but front yards are spacious, and backyards are often big enough for pools or large patios. Front yards are usually landscaped with grass, small palm trees and flowers. Two- and three-bedroom homes range from the low $300,000s to the high $300,000s, and four- and five-bedroom homes range from the high $300,000s to the mid $500,000s. Tulip Park scores a 3 out of 10 on the CAP Index crime scale, one point lower than the national average.

Close to many parks, including Jessica Clinton Park

Whispering Pines Park, just north of Southwest Tulip Boulevard, includes multiple tennis and pickleball courts, a baseball field and a large, shaded playground. Jessica Clinton Park is another popular green space. “It’s a really nice place to take the dog for a walk and for kids to play on the playground. It’s very relaxing and pretty,” Terpening says. Those with small children and dogs can also drive 4 miles to the popular Woodland Trails Park, which has a dog park and a playground. The semi-private Crane Watch Club in Palm City offers an 18-hole course and is open year-round.
