A commuter's dream in southwest Port St. Lucie
Sitting next to Interstate 95 and just a few miles from the new additions at Tradition, including the Amazon and FedEx warehouses, the neighborhood of Woodland Trails in southwest Port St. Lucie is “a commuter’s dream,” according to Jason Coley, a team lead with Atlantic Shores Realty who sells throughout the Treasure Coast. “It’s really convenient for the folks who work over there,” he says. The quiet suburb is home to about 5,000 residents who come for the homes, which are larger and more affordable than the Palm Beach area—where most newcomers are moving from—and stay for the convenience of living close to shopping, dining, schools and parks.
Ranch-style and contemporary homes from the 2000s
Most homes in Woodland Trails are ranch-style and contemporary builds from the 2000s, with three or four bedrooms. Prices range from the low $300,000s to the high $600,000s, with prices increasing based on square footage and renovation status. Front yards are roomy and neatly landscaped, with small trees and other plants, and two-car garages are standard. While much of the neighborhood is developed, there are still empty lots throughout, which gives the community a bit of a rural, less dense feel. Regarding crime, Woodland Trails scores a 3 out of 10 on the CAP Index, one point lower than the national average.
Area kids attend St. Lucie Public Schools
St. Lucie Public Schools serves the neighborhood, and many older students attend Treasure Coast High School from ninth through 12th grade. Treasure Coast High serves about 3,000 students, has a student-teacher ratio of 28-to-1 and a B rating on Niche. It offers various clubs to join, including Drone Club, Astronomy Club and Titan Robotics. Younger students often start school at Floresta Elementary, which has a B-minus on Niche and serves prekindergarten through fifth grade, then head to Southport Middle School, which also has a B-minus on Niche. Another option for elementary school is Somerset Academy St. Lucie, a tuition-free charter school in the neighborhood that serves kindergarten through fifth grade.
Woodland Trails Park is a popular spot for outdoor recreation
Woodland Trails Park offers 13 acres of green space and is where many residents in the neighborhood go to get fresh air. The park provides a sidewalk-style walking trail that winds through tall trees and is a popular spot for exercise. There’s also a playground for kids ages two to 12 with sensory play components and a designated area for dogs, with plenty of space for them to run and hang out in the sunshine.
Shopping and dining along Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard and in nearby Tradition
For errands, Walmart and Aldi are located a few miles north of the neighborhood along Southwest Port St. Lucie Boulevard, and then farther west along Southwest Gatlin Boulevard is Sam’s Club and Home Depot. There are multiple restaurants to choose from for dining out, including Francesca’s Pizza, a neighborhood favorite for its extensive pizza menu (including a few pies that are “too weird for the regular menu”), salads and wings. Next door’s Port Saint Wich’s authentic Cuban sandwiches, coffee and desserts are also a local favorite.
Tradition, a new master-planned community about 6 miles northwest of the neighborhood, is also a popular destination for shopping and dining. The Landing at Tradition offers big-box stores like Target, Homesense and Old Navy, plus dining options like Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse.
I-95 is conveniently close
Interstate 95 runs along the neighborhood’s west side and connects residents to the rest of Port St. Lucie, Palm Beach, Boca Raton and Miami to the south.
GreatSchools:
