Port Wentworth has a variety of homes
The city of Port Wentworth is two worlds in one: on the south side of town, midcentury homes spread out from the center of downtown; and to the north, new subdivisions with Millennial-style homes coil into quiet cul-de-sacs. Port Wentworth tapers at the middle, funneling into the downtown area where the courthouse takes center stage. Branching out from this central location, residential streets feature modest Minimal Traditional homes, some with front porches and sunrooms, midcentury brick ranch-style homes with mushrooming magnolias out front and Southern cottages dating as far back as 1917. Homes in the downtown area start at around $177,000, but the typical home hovers around $225,000.
Cinched at the waist, Port Wentworth fans out to the north and stretches along Interstate 95, encompassing several subdivisions. These residential pockets were developed in the last two decades and vary in contemporary styles, including Millennial designs with attached garages and port windows and New Traditional homes with a combination of brick and vinyl siding, multi-gabled roofs and porticos. The Parkside community offers newer construction designed to match the Victorian and Southern Colonial architecture of historic Savannah, offering homes that feature bay windows, colonial shutters, and sweeping verandahs and balconies, including wrap-around porches with ceiling fans for those humid Savannah summers. Homes north of I-95 range from $325,000 to $479,000. Town house options are also available, starting around $275,000.

Sushi at Hanami Japanese Cuisine
After little league, chow down on tacos at El Ranchito. Try the tacos al pastor for something sweet and tangy, or go for the shrimp tacos if you’re craving seafood. For dinner, stop by Hanami Japanese Cuisine for sushi and tempura. You can’t go wrong with the classic California roll, but try a bento box if you’re feeling extra hungry. The Dynamite Roll will satisfy any deep-fried sushi lover, and don’t’ forget a slice of fried cheesecake for dessert.
No matter where you choose to live in Port Wentworth, grocery shopping is always close at hand. With State Road 21 splitting the city lengthwise, there are plenty of big-box retailers and fast-food joints on either side, including Publix and Food Lion. And with Port Wentworth’s midcentury downtown and newer subdivisions to the north, the city offers something for everyone.
