It’s a super fun event for the community.” Bikers aiming to reach 100 miles while circling Ladd’s central park form teams and wear matching costumes, resulting in an eclectic array of headgear from banana hats to lampshades. Religious services are held at St. Sharbel Catholic Church, Saint David of Wales, Vietnamese Assembly of God Church and others around the area.Commuters walk and bike
Residents can walk or bike within the area, and bus stops line popular roadways leading into downtown and throughout the city. “Lots of walkability, lots of bankability,” says Schmidt. “The whole area is extremely bike-friendly.” The MAX Orange Line of the Light Rail runs through the neighborhood leading to downtown Portland and Milwaukie, 5 miles away. U.S. Route 26 and Oregon Route 99E, also lead into downtown. Interstate 5 takes commuters outside the area, stretching from California to Washington state. The Providence Portland Medical Center is 4 miles away, and the Portland International Airport is 9 miles away. The CAP Index crime score is a 6 out of 10, higher than the national average of 4.
