Wide-open spaces in a Coeur d'Alene exurb
The name West Prairie might evoke images of open plains, farmland and the majesty of the American West. For some homebuyers in this Coeur d'Alene exurb, that's exactly what they're looking for. "I think a lot of people want larger acreage with their homes, so it's very attractive to people that they can have some property," says Sheena Keller, a Realtor with Century 21 Beutler & Associates who has worked in the area. "If there are families that want to have a little farm and some acreage but be close to amenities, it is perfect for them." Much of the land in this neighborhood is zoned for agriculture, and many properties already have chicken coops or other farm buildings ready to go. While the rural feel of the community is the main draw, larger cities like Coeur d'Alene and Spokane are a short drive away, offering a variety of shopping, dining and other services.
