Prospect is a unique city in Kentucky in many ways. Resting along the bank of the Ohio River, many residents here own pleasure yachts or socialize at the Louisville Yacht Club. Prospect is for park lovers
Prospect's greenery extends far beyond its residential streets. In 2022, the city made grand renovations to Little Hunting Creek Park, a new playground and pavilion were built for community events. Doug Farnsley, the mayor of Prospect, says, "The park has become our city center and has proven to be highly popular. Little Hunting Creek Park and Harrods Creek Park both have excellent hiking trails, and Harrods Creek Park has a canoe and kayak launch." Larger preserved parks are within a 6-mile radius of town as well, with Devil’s Backbone and Creasey Mahan Nature Preserve being great for hiking and taking in natural vistas. Rose Island Abandoned Theme Park combines history, hiking and a nature-reclaimed resort into a unique outdoor attraction. The Hunting Creek Country Club is also a huge local draw, this members-only club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis center and a 24/7 fitness center. Resting beside the Ohio River has many benefits for residents of Prospect, as they host the Louisville Yacht Club, and it is a common sight to see anything from motorboats to kayaks taking on this churning channel that serves as the natural border between Kentucky and Indiana.

Gustavo's for tacos, or Blackstone Grille for classic American dishes
A Kroger is in Prospect, west of U.S. Route 42, for groceries, and a couple of doors down is Gustavo's Mexican Grill, a local staple popular with families and known for their house margaritas, chimichangas and a taco Tuesday discount deal. The Blackstone Grille is half a mile up Route 42 and serves traditional American cuisine. Considered Prospect's "white tablecloth" restaurant, residents can enjoy a night out with an order of prime rib, mashed potatoes and corn pudding and pair that with a wide variety of wines, beers and spirits. Linda Wardell, a local and the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Chair adds, "I would also include our local meat market, Butcher's Best. Jimmy, the owner, not only sells great meat but also has homemade sides and great lunch box options."

Watch a concert at Little Hunting Creek Park, or catch fireworks at Cowley Park
There are always local events in Prospect's green spaces. As Farnsley says, "Little Hunting Creek Park attracts families, even grandparents. The park is still populated during the winter, and the pavilion hosts concerts, Shakespeare in the Park, and other special events. Cowley Park is home to our annual 4th of July celebration that includes a parade, music, and games followed by an outstanding fireworks show." For events further outside of town, residents can catch a show at the Rock and Roll Playhouse, browse the Holiday Pop-Up Market at nearby Norton Commons, and enjoy Pizza and Pickleball events at River Road Social.
