Queen Creek horse community with larger lots close to equestrian venues
Ranchos Jardines in southwestern Queen Creek is a community with more rural settings and expansive lots than other parts of the city. Some houses sit closer together in traditional, well-kept subdivisions dotted with palm trees, while others are farther apart off unmarked roads with views of the San Tan Mountains in the distance. “It’s definitely for people who have horses or want horses,” says Katie Whalen, Realtor with Amy Jones Real Estate Group who’s lived in Queen Creek for 20 years. In addition to horses, it's normal to chicken coops and farm equipment along certain roads like Chandler Heights, and the Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre is a popular place for locals a few miles southeast. Folks are drawn to the area for the well-rated school district and a calmer lifestyle, according to Whalen. “The Jardines area is kind of what you would have seen in old school Queen Creek: acre properties, people are super friendly, and there aren’t too many houses for sale,” she says. The area has a CAP Index crime score of 1 out of 10, significantly lower than the national average of 4.
Spanish ranch homes with fenced-in pastures
The wide asphalt streets here are mostly laid out in a grid and connect to long gravel driveways. Many lawns are rock-landscaped or have large, fenced-in pastures with horses, cows and chickens. A mix of Spanish ranch-style and new traditional homes with stucco exteriors and terracotta roofs are predominantly found near the west part of Ranchos Jardines. Built between the early 2000s and 2020s, these homes feature small, well-manicured backyards and tiny veranda-covered patios and are priced between $300,000 and $600,000. Larger ranch-style and Pueblo-styled homes built in the late 20th century and early 21st century are spread around the neighborhood on one to two-acre lots with up to five bedrooms and in-ground pools. Prices range between $700,000 and $1.2 million. HOA-controlled subdivisions include Calistoga and Village at San Tan Heights, which have access to community pools, basketball courts and covered playgrounds.
Homes on large lots in Rancho Jardines range from $700,000 to $1.2 million.

Saddling up on the Sonoqui Wash Trail or fishing at Mansel Park
The 4-mile Sonoqui Wash Trail runs through the north and west sides. Folks can jog, bike or ride horses along the paved path through the bare desert landscape toward Gilbert, which is part of the regional Maricopa Trail. Through a development plan started by Maricopa County of Supervisors in 2000, this trail will eventually cover the entire southeast valley, an area that includes Gilbert, Chandler and Queen Creek in Arizona. The trail also connects to the Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre 3 miles southeast, which features a Community Arena open seven days a week. Folks can also head 3 miles north toward the 48-acre Mansel Carter Oasis Park for sand volleyball, fishing at the lake or practicing tricks at the Skateboard Park. For a change of scenery, the public Power Ranch Golf Club is 4 miles north and offers 18 holes of lush, hilly terrain with distant views of the San Tan Mountains and the on-site Slate Bistro and Bar.
Career-focused classes at Crismon High
A portion of Ranchos Jardines is zoned for the Chandler Unified School District, but most of the community is covered by Queen Creek Unified School District. Kids living in the southern part can start at Queen Creek Elementary, while those in the northern part attend Desert Mountain Elementary. Both schools earn an A-minus from Niche. Students head to the unrated Crismon High for grades seven through twelve, which opened doors in 2022. The school is known for its Career and Technical courses in skills like architectural drafting and medical assisting.
Local and chain businesses near Ranchos Jardines
Various local eateries surround Ranchos Jardines. Lucky Lou’s is a Vegas-themed restaurant and bar serving hot wings and Philly cheesesteaks. Queen Creek Marketplace is about 5 miles north and houses other local favorites like Barrio Queen, serving authentic Mexican taco plates in a Dia de Los Muertos-decorated dining room. Visitors to Queen Creek Marketplace can also shop at national retail chains like Kohl’s, Nordstrom and Ross. For groceries, Trader Joe’s is close by, or Queen Creek Family Market puts on a bi-weekly farmers market at Schnepf Farms 6 miles east of the neighborhood. Residents can also travel to the Queen Creek District shopping area for local clothing stores like Apricot Lane Boutique and Happy Beauty Company.

Cheering at the rodeo at Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre
In March, locals dress in their best Western clothes for the annual Roots N’ Boots Queen Creek rodeo at Horseshoe Park and Equestrian Centre. Attendees can watch cattle roping, barrel racing and bull riding events and visit the on-site carnival. The center also hosts Monster Truck Wars around May—a traveling show where tricked-out trucks perform stunts. Whalen says people like to rent space at Pecan Lake Entertainment, a venue that hosts activities like axe throwing, zip-line courses and escape rooms.
Lots of car traffic with bike lanes on Chandler Heights Road
Most people drive to get around the area, but some streets like Chandler Heights Road have bike lanes that lead to Downtown Queen Creek roughly 4 miles east. Whalen says traffic can get heavy, but because the city is built on a grid, there are many different ways to get around the community. Banner Ironwood Medical Center is about 8 miles east, and Mesa Gateway Airport is 5 miles north via South Sossaman Road.
Staying cool and prepared for adverse weather
Extreme heat is a factor in Ranchos Jardines. From May to September, Maricopa County establishes cooling centers and hydration stations for those in need, and Queen Creek Library is the closest one to the neighborhood. The Maricopa County Emergency Management recommends homeowners check their air conditioning ducts for solid insulation and cover windows with drapes or awnings to keep direct sunlight out. Because of the extreme heat and desert climate, the area is more at risk of wildfire destruction. The city lists several fire safety tips on its website like coming up with a home escape plan and keeping a 72-hour first aid kit.
