Brookwoods is a hole in one

The Brookwoods area of Quinton, Virginia, is a well-established residential community packed with activities. Quinton, part of New Kent County, is conveniently located between Richmond and Williamsburg. With five golf courses, four wineries and several surrounding lakes, Brookwoods residents have plenty to do right at home. When beckoned by the many attractions and amenities of the state capital to the west, or by Colonial Williamsburg to the southeast, locals can hop on Interstate 64 and get to either in a flash.

Lakeside subdivisions

Brookwoods is home to a few established subdivisions. One is the Five Lakes subdivision, named for the private lakes created alongside the neighborhood in 1965. The house styles vary, with a few English Tudors in the neighborhood, along with Colonials, Cape Cods and ranchers—all within a few blocks. The neighborhood’s 500 homes sit on spacious, well-maintained lots amid mature trees. Adjacent to Five Lakes is the newer Patriot’s Landing subdivision, offering spacious new builds with classic architecture on wide, curving streets. A clubhouse and community pool with an on-duty lifeguard are a few of the amenities provided to residents. Residents of Five Lakes and Patriot’s Landing share access to the lakes, paying a monthly fee of $40 to maintain them. It’s a small price for residents to pay for the ability to fish, kayak or canoe in the private waters. Meanwhile, Rock Creek Villas caters to the 55-plus crowd, with 60 ADA-friendly homes overlooking the Brookwoods Golf Course. Residents enjoy a clubhouse adjacent to a wildlife-protected nature area, two ponds with lighted fountains, paved walkways and a large gazebo. The homes are maintenance-free, all-brick exterior single-family homes. These single-story homes are designed with mobility challenges in mind, each home being ADA-compliant. Home prices in the area range from $265,000 to $800,000.

Parks

The Brookwoods Golf Club is one of the main draws of the neighborhood. It’s walkable from the Five Lakes neighborhood and a quick drive from anywhere else in Brookwoods. With an 18-hole course, a practice driving range and putting greens, Brookwoods Golf Club has plenty to offer the community’s golf lovers. The community also offers plenty of parks for residents to enjoy outdoor recreation. Pine Fork Park offers a playground, a small dog park, a paved walking trail, sports fields and a zipline. Meanwhile, Quinton Park has two playgrounds, a mile-long walking trail and a picnic area with grills. York River State Park is also close by. Here, locals can take in the natural beauty of a coastal estuary. Freshwater and saltwater meet at the park to create a habitat rich in marine and plant life. Visitors can hike, bike and look out for wildlife.
