Housing styles vary from bungalows and ranch-styles to larger Craftsman and cottages. Most were built in the 1920s and 30s, but some newer homes were constructed in the late 2010s and as recently as 2025. One- to two-bedroom condos go for between $235,000 and to almost $670,000. Three-bedroom condos are priced from just over $760,000 to over $1.67 million.
Takeout or dining in on Hillsborough Street
The bustling Hillsborough Street has department stores and chain restaurants, like Target and Chick-fil-A, as well as local spots like Jubala Coffee and Mitch’s Tavern — the oldest place on Hillsborough Street. “Being next door to a college campus, prices tend to be accessible while not sacrificing taste," Howard says. "Most locations have places to eat both indoors and outdoors, but takeout is also pretty substantial and easy to access.” Shops at Village District has a Harris Teeter and several other shops and eateries. Bars, Breweries and eateries line Glenwood Avenue. Hibernian Pub brings a taste of Ireland to Raleigh.Gregg Museum of Art and Design is on NC State’s north campus. Hillsborough Street is the locale for events like the City of Oaks Marathon and a local music series. “Hillsborough Street's biggest event every year is Packapalooza,” Howard says. “It's so well attended because it's an opportunity to kick off the academic year with music, entertainment, family-friendly activities, food, and all things Wolfpack.”
Pullen Park's many amenities and other green spaces
In addition to more traditional park amenities like playgrounds and sports courts, Pullen Park has amusement rides. “It is incredibly popular at all times of year,” Howard says. “In terms of outdoor activities, renting a pedal boat or riding a carousel are two of the top attractions. Unless it's wintertime, where the Holiday Express is a sellout event every year.” Swimming lessons are available at the Pullen Aquatic Center, and art classes and gallery exhibits are offered at the Pullen Arts Center. Visitors can get a drink and a bite to eat at Pullen Place Cafe and see a play at the Theatre in the Park. The WRAL Azalea Garden blooms flowers and trees every spring and is open seven days a week. Fred Fletcher Park is a smaller green space with a water garden and an amphitheater.Highly-rated Wake County Public Schools
