This community has historically been a citrus-growing district famous for its unique "pineapple-orange" variety, named because of the orange's pineapple-like aroma. "You get out there into God's Country, there's plenty of fishing and hunting to do," says EXP Realtor Joe Brown, and the prevalence of horse farms gives locals the opportunity to see friendly horses on their walkabouts. Public school students are served by the Marion County Public School district, beginning their academic journeys at primary schools like Sparr Elementary. This school has an overall B-minus Niche rating and teaches from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. Students move on to intermediate and secondary institutions like North Marion Middle and High School. Both schools have at least an overall C-plus rating according to Niche.
