An ever-evolving Reno neighborhood
Nowhere in Reno is there more housing variety than within the Grove neighborhood at the city’s southern edge. Located between the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, the quiet community of Virginia Lake and trendy MidTown, the Grove blends tranquil residential streets, parks and nearby shopping. Trailers, vintage ranches and condos fill this neighborhood’s residential streets, while plenty of future growth can be looked forward to. “The Reno Entertainment District is being built nearby,” says Richard Berman, a Realtor with Dickson Realty. “You should see a lot of growth in the area from that.” Conveniently located less than 3 miles from Downtown Reno, The Grove puts residents just around the corner from nearly every imaginable convenience.
Diverse housing options in the Grove
The Grove has an incredibly diverse housing market; its northern periphery consists of quiet sidewalk-lined streets of ranch-style homes built in the late 1950s. Closer to the heart of the community, condos built in the 1970s add variety to the Grove’s housing stock, while sitting within a few blocks of the local elementary and middle schools. Several manufactured home communities are situated in the southern parts of the Grove. The majority of the Grove’s housing consists of ranch-style homes, some with brick accents or solar panels. Homes tend to vary in price from $200,000 to $650,000, with a median price of $244,000, half that of the city average. This humble community is beautified by several modern art sculptures which speak to the rapid evolution of the Grove, with the installation of pieces from Burning Man coinciding with a major redevelopment project that promises a trendy future for this community.

The Grove not only provides residents with variety in housing options, but also in recreation opportunities. This neighborhood is home to two casinos. The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino features table games, slots and a racing and sports book as well as 10 restaurants and cafes including an extensive whiskey collection at the Terrace Lounge. Green-thumbed locals can beautify their gardens with plants from Moana Nursery, while the local Costco Wholesale can satisfy residents’ bulk shopping needs. Plenty more shopping opportunities are expected to emerge as a result of the Reno Experience District’s construction, with 65,000 square feet of property being earmarked for high-end retail.

Expanding opportunities for recreation
The Grove’s ongoing redevelopment is not limited to residential or retail development. The area’s renewal efforts began in 2012 with the demolition of Moana Stadium, home to several of Reno’s minor league baseball teams since 1946. The site is now home to the Moana Springs Recreational Complex and will soon be home to Moana Springs Community Aquatics and Fitness Center, a state-of-the-art swimming facility. The nearby, 8-acre Tighe Park has baseball and softball fields, and hosts Reno’s Continental Little League.
