Multifamily housing
The Crescent Beach neighborhood sits less than 7 miles from Boston and offers tightly packed housing with access to urban amenities and the water. Here, residents can find multi-unit and multifamily housing options just a short walk from the historic Revere Beach, the oldest public beach in the U.S. and the closest beach to Boston. Residents are close to nature as well as to the businesses that spring up along the waterfront. “I’ve seen the area change so much in recent years,” says Kimberlee Maniscalco, a lifetime resident of Revere and the adult service librarian at Revere Public Library. “The access to Boston and the influx of new apartments right on the beach have caused a lot of people to move in as well as created lots of growth for the community.”
Revere Beach and Curtis Park
Revere Beach is the crown jewel of both the Crescent Beach community and the city of Revere. It has 3 miles of sandy beachfront where residents can relax in the sun, swim and boat. The beach is also a prime location for community events, and it hosts millions of visitors each year. Curtis Park is a recently renovated green space with a basketball court, playset and baseball diamond. Get Air Trampoline Park offers indoor dodgeball, a foam pit and designated jump times for younger children.
Festivals on Revere Beach
The Crescent Beach community is home to a number of festivals and other annual events, the largest of which is the International Sand Sculpting Festival. Each July, hundreds of thousands of onlookers watch artists from around the world form sand into magnificent sculptures. During this time, the city also closes off parts of the street by the beach, creating room for dozens of food trucks and stage space for live performances. At the annual 4th of July Celebration, guests can enjoy bounce houses, live music and fireworks. Throughout the year, the Revere Public Library has more frequent community events for every season, including trivia nights, book clubs and craft nights. “We do a Christmas crafting event in the winter and have candle making in January,” Maniscalco says.
Multi family beachside housing
The Crescent Beach community's growing housing market consists of a large number of multi-unit and multi-family properties. Many of these are houses converted into duplexes, but there are also recently constructed apartments and condos with glittering exteriors. There are a few single-family homes throughout the neighborhood, many of which were built in the early 1900s in styles such as Foursquare and New Englander. Prices for condos and multi-family units can range between $300,000 and $550,000, and single-family homes tend to run from $400,000 to around $900,000. Investors can also find multi-unit properties rising from $750,000 to over $1.5 million.
Waterfront dining and Revere shopping
“There have been a lot of changes with restaurants recently, a bunch that I went to growing up have been replaced by newer trendy places that are pretty popular,” Maniscalco says. Residents can order roast beef sandwiches at Kelly’s and select from seafood pasta dishes at Dryft. Murray’s Tavern, a little closer to downtown, serves appetizers, shareables and a selection of craft beer. The Wonderland Marketplace shopping center is nearby, and grocery shopping options include Market Basket and Price Rite Marketplace.
Boston traffic and T stations
Due to the location of the neighborhood and its proximity to Boston, traffic is often an issue for drivers. “The traffic can be so horrible here,” Maniscalco says. “The improvements to the city and influx of businesses are great, but sometimes the traffic is just too much. It can take 30 minutes to get from one side of the city to another.” Residents can head to the Revere Beach or Wonderland T Stations, both of which run along the Blue Line to downtown Boston. Scooters and bikes are also commonly used in the neighborhood. Boston Logan International Airport is less than 5 miles away, and the MGH-Revere HealthCare Center is nearby.
Football rivalries in Revere public schools
Students can start their education at Garfield Elementary School, rated a B-minus on Niche. They continue on to Garfield Middle School, which earns a C-plus and is located on the same campus. They can then head to the B-rated Revere High School, which offers a variety of advanced courses and is very well known for its football team. “We have a rivalry with Winthrop’s team, especially on Thanksgiving during the annual big game,” Maniscalco says.
