Mark Twain
Suburban Neighborhood in Richardson, Texas
Dallas County 75081
Midcentury renovated ranches abound in Mark Twain
Those looking to move to this Richardson community will find a wealth of 1960s limewashed and exposed brick ranch homes, some featuring garages. "Garages are important here," Lustberg-Papert says. "We get a lot of hailstorms in the spring and they can be destructive." These homes usually hover around 1,500 square feet and rest on compact, tidy lots lined with mature oak and elm trees. Prices for these homes typically range between $300,000 and $425,000. Those seeking multifamily community amenities will find townhouses costing around $485,000. "Homes will typically sell within 30 days if they're priced right and in good condition," Lustberg-Papert says.Mark Twain offers plenty of greenspaces for residents
Residents can head to Mark Twain Park when they want to get outside. This community greenspace provides tennis courts, a playground and paved walking and biking trails. The park is adjacent to Huffhines Park, which has a softball complex, tennis center, baseball field, playground, picnic areas and a walking trail that meanders through a shaded, woodsy area.Richardson Independent School District serves students
Families will start their scholars at Mark Twain Elementary, which earned an overall B grade on Niche. Students then attend Apollo Junior High School before filtering into Berkner High School. Both schools earned an overall B-plus grade on Niche. In addition to its academics and athletics, the high school is known for its comprehensive fine arts program. Surrounding communities are easily accessible via the highway, too. Plano is 6 miles away, Dallas is 14 miles away and Fort Worth is about 40 miles away. Although Mark Twain never visited the state, his namesake neighborhood offers residents a diverse, suburban lifestyle with a quick route to the excitement of the big city.South Plano Road offers dining, retail and entertainment
Mark Twain residents have easy access to well-known grocery and big box stores along South Plano Road, such as Aldi, Target, and Lowe's. There's also a Texas Health Breeze Urgent Care nearby. Along South Plano Road, independent neighborhood eateries offer local cuisine from around the world. Residents can sample Middle Eastern street food at Abu Omar Halal, Vietnamese noodle soup at Pho Bac, or traditional American breakfast foods at any time of day at The House Café. "It's a diverse area," Lustberg-Papert says. "You have a lot of different cultures there, and that's reflected in the cuisine." Residents can spend a weekend evening at the popular spot Class Axe Throwing. The event venue offers personalized axe-throwing instruction and allows patrons to bring their own beer. For those seeking entertainment on a broader scale, Dallas is a short drive from the community. "Dallas is our hub for entertainment," Lustberg-Papert says. "If you want to see opera, you go to Dallas. We have an aquarium and there are tons of museums downtown."
