A family-friendly town
Just off the western shore of the Delaware River, the little borough of Ridley Park seems reminiscent of a gentler time. This walkable community of about 7,000 residents is known for its hometown atmosphere, well-maintained roads and gorgeous parks. “Ridley Park is a traditional Delaware County community that has managed to maintain its charm,” says William Furia, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty. “It’s a family-friendly town of working-class people who really care about their homes and communities. There are a lot of longtime, multi-generational families here, but it’s also a great place for people looking for homes they can afford in a place where they don’t have to worry about their kids’ safety.”
Proximity to I-95 and the Delaware River make Ridley Park an attractive option.

A wide selection of homes
“Ridley Park has a nice selection of different style homes, and most of them are under the $400,000 range,” says Furia. Part of Ridley Park’s small-town charm is found in its tree-lined streets, well-trimmed sidewalks and comfortable homes. Here, joggers and dogwalkers greet one another as they pass neatly clipped lawns and private driveways. Victorian homes bring a nostalgic 19th-century character to the town with cozy wrap-around porches and castle-like turrets. There are other single-family homes around town, such as Cape Cods, Colonial-style and twin houses. Single-family homes in Ridley Park range between $289,000 and about $550,000.

Boats, baseball and playgrounds
Boat owners can dock their watercraft at the Ridley Township Municipal Marina and then head out to the open waters of the Delaware River. The marina is next to James Pentimall Park, one of the town’s many green spaces with playgrounds for small kids and baseball fields used by the Ridley Area Little League.
Quaint shops and good dining
For shopping and dining, locals head to E. Hinckley Avenue, a quaint strip in the middle of town and home to about a dozen local shops and restaurants. Honey Comb resells upscale children’s clothing. Rosemary is an upscale, contemporary restaurant that features locally sourced American cuisine. Residents often end the evening at Dolan’s, which was voted the best dive bar in Delaware County. Grocery shoppers can stock their shelves at the nearby Acme Market. There is a Walmart just outside the neighborhood. When the weather is nice, the patio overlooking Darby Creek at Stinger’s Waterfront is a lovely spot to enjoy a meal of seared scallops.
Town fairs and festivals
The Victorian Town Fair derives from Ridley Park’s beautiful Victorian-style homes. During the annual event held at Ridley Park Lake, people dress in their finest Victorian attire and ride paddle boats on the lake. With that fun-filled event, on top of a Cinco de Mayo festival, car shows and Fourth of July fireworks, the town truly bonds and establishes a welcoming atmosphere.

Route 13 runs through the middle of Ridley Park. Commuters can also get to downtown Philly by SEPTA train, which takes about 40 minutes.
