Country living on the lakeshore
Country homes and pristine waterfronts define the landscape of Riverside, a rural community along the shores of Logan Martin Lake. Settlers initially named the town Readman but renamed it shortly before its incorporation in 1886. Logging and sawmills were among the primary industries which made Riverside an economic powerhouse in St. Clair County. Locals live in private countryside homes and waterfront houses, while businesses and the water sports available at the lake bring in thousands of visitors.
Well-maintained homes on secluded and expansive home lots
Dense forests and sprawling fields define the borders of local abodes in Riverside. Most homes are situated along winding country roads, the waterfront or the occasional cul-de-sac. Locals are less than 10 miles from the waterfront and within five miles of schools in nearby Pell City. Local realtor and resident of St. Clair County for the last 65 years Frank Domingue says Riverside is "a quiet rural community. It's right on I-20, so locals can easily get to Pell City." The community's residential landscape features a range of established and newer housing developments. Many of the older homes are either ranch-style or manufactured houses. Both styles offer spacious home lots, and ranch-style houses have open floor plans, allowing homeowners to take advantage of every inch of living space. Contemporary builds feature modern spins on the farmhouse and Craftsman styles, featuring simple shapes and monochrome color palettes for their facades along with ample yard space. Home prices range from $140,000 for an older ranch-style house to $400,000 or more for contemporary style houses.

Boating, swimming and waterskiing on Logan Martin Lake
Being a waterfront town with access to major freeways gives locals several opportunities to get active. Logan Martin Lake is a major attraction for visitors and locals alike, who visit the lake for water sports like recreational boating, swimming and water skiing. The lake is also home to a hydroelectric dam, which provides low-cost hydropower to the state. Along Depot Street and across from the boat landing is Riverside City Park, home to a large baseball field open for public games and reservations ringed by a public walking track. Just 25 miles to the east is Cheaha State Park, the oldest park in Alabama and home to the southernmost tip of the Appalachian Mountains. The park offers lodge rooms, A-frame mountain chalets and several campgrounds for visitors to enjoy their time in the woods.
