West of CherryVale Mall
The Westvale neighborhood gets its name because it’s west of the CherryVale Mall, 7 miles east of Rockford. “It’s one of the few areas of Rockford where you’re close to the interstate,” says Rebecca LeClaire, a broker at Century 21 Affiliated with 12 years of experience. “It’s in the Cherry Valley area of Rockford, which has closer access to nature.” Although the homes here have a Rockford address, they are close to the suburb of Cherry Valley and are considered part of that area. Housing started developing in Westvale shortly after the mall opened in 1973.
Entertainment options at and near CherryVale Mall
About 140 stores comprise the two-level CherryVale Mall, which has reinvented itself in the past few years to keep business strong. One of the anchor stores opened three years ago as a two-level entertainment and arcade called Tilted 10/Tilt Studio. The lower level is Tilted 10, with laser tag, pinball machines and a bar and restaurant. Tilt Studio, on the upper level, has over 100 arcade games. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Rockford is a waterpark on the mall's east side near Interstate 39. The park has multiple slides, a wave pool and a children’s interactive playground. About two miles north on Interstate 90 is Hard Rock Casino Rockford, which opens in late summer 2024, with thousands of slot machines, dining and entertainment. On the east side of Interstate 39 is the 158-acre County Line Forest Preserve, a prime bird-watching area with over 2 miles of trails. To add to the scenery, the Kishwaukee River flows through it.
Tilted offers fun indoor games and simulators for the families of Westvale.
