Quiet suburban living alongside an airport and a university

The Lewis University neighborhood shares its name with the higher education institution it surrounds. The school, a private Lasallian university, is known for its aviation program. “The campus is beautiful, and the student life is diverse. It has a quiet college town vibe,” says broker Jill Petranek with Coldwell Banker Realty Naperville. “But you’ll mostly find older ranch homes in the neighborhood.” The airport’s runway stretches between homes and the campus, so residents are more likely to see planes taking off than students walking to class. Residents and students can go to restaurants and grocery stores just on the other side of the airport.

Midcentury ranch-style homes built next to a university

The neighborhood's homes, built between the late 1950s and early '60s, are all ranch-style houses with vinyl siding. The streets mostly parallel each other. They lack sidewalks, but garages are common. Streets facing the Lewis University Airport offer space where residents can watch the planes come and go. Others have mature trees that create a canopy of green and shade over the properties. Homes here typically sell between $225,000 and $300,000.
