Parks, lakes and highly ranked schools draw families to Central Park
The Central Park neighborhood was developed in Roseville decades after the park with the same name was established in the early 1900s. As the park grew and offered modern amenities that coincided with the post-World War II housing boom, builders realized that new homes close to both the park and Bennett Lake would be sought after.
Today, a new generation of buyers find those mid-century homes — renovated and fixer-uppers, alike — as attractive as buyers did in the 1950s and '60s. “Central Park has become more diverse over the decades, but it still brings working families that appreciate vibrant community services, including parks, lakes and public schools,'' says David Saint Germain, a Roseville Realtor with MetroHomesMarket.com for 16 years. "The neighborhood has plenty of nearby restaurants, grocery stores and recreation spots like Roseville Ice Arena. When buyers can find newer homes a bit farther away, but they choose to move here, you realize that the blend of recreation and services is a major selling point in Central Park.”
Homes in Roseville are nestled among the city's 32 parks encompassing 700 acres of green space.

Golf, giraffes, Bennett Lake and gardens
Central Park is the largest city park in Roseville and one of the largest parks in Ramsey County. At 225 acres, it is divided into six sub-parks, each of which is connected by walking and biking trails. “Central Park is the cornerstone of Roseville and Central Park,'' Saint Germain says. "It’s not one park but a chain of connected parks. It integrates city services with a variety of recreation and sports including hockey, baseball and football along with fishing, bicycle races and regular community events.”
Central Park – Victoria Ballfields is the home of Roseville’s softball leagues, with six fields, a picnic shelter and surrounding paved walking trails. The Muriel Sahlin Arboretum is a peaceful and eye-catching place to rest, take a nature walk or attend an outdoor wedding. Bennett Lake’s 25 acres is a popular spot for pier, canoe and shoreside fishing. One reason for its popularity is that the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources uses Bennett Lake as a fish-rearing location.
Outside the neighborhood’s boundaries but within a 3-mile radius, residents will find 100-year-old Midland Hills Golf Course, a private country club founded by University of Minnesota. The Como Park Zoo and Observatory was founded in the 1890s as a city park and has expanded into a zoo and observatory over the last 100 years. Its most recent additions include the Gorilla Forest, the Japanese Gardens and the Tropical Encounters exhibit.
