Country club and unique homes are a draw for Brookfield West community
Brookfield West’s amenities and uniqueness have appealed to homeowners since the neighborhood was established in the 1970s. Lisa Gallagher, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Georgia Properties, lived in the community for 20 years while raising her family. “We stumbled upon it not knowing much about it,” she says, “We loved the wide streets and the mature trees and the fact that all the homes were different. It was not one of the newer neighborhoods where the homes looked the same.” The Brookfield Country Club at the heart of the neighborhood is also a big draw, she says.
Large lots and numerous home styles
The community has about 1,000 homes in numerous styles, most built between the 1970s and 1990s. “There are ranch homes, there are 3-story megahomes, there are traditional brick or modern, or whatever you want,” Gallagher says. “It just appeals to such a broad variety of folks.” Most lots are at least half an acre, and many homes have garages, long driveways and manicured lawns. There are no sidewalks. Most homes are between 3,000 and 4,500 square feet and sell for between $750,000 and $950,000. Some smaller homes recently sold for between $610,000 and $690,000. Larger homes, between 5,000 and 7,000 square feet, can sell for between $1.2 and $2 million. Though membership in the HOA is voluntary, Gallagher says enough residents participate that the association continues to host community events and maintain the grounds at the neighborhood’s three entrances. The newest section of the subdivision, called The Enclave, has homes built in the early 2000s. The Enclave is a gated community.
A-rated public schools and multiple nearby private schools
Children are zoned for Fulton County Schools. They attend Mountain Park Elementary, Crabapple Middle School and Roswell High School. All are rated A on Niche. “They’re all schools of excellence; they’re award-winning schools,” Gallagher says. “I was on the PTA of each one.” Roswell High School serves more than 2,000 students and had a graduation rate of 94% in 2024, higher than the state average. The school offers more than 25 AP classes. Nearby private school options include Queen of Angels Catholic School, which has an A-plus on Niche, and Fellowship Christian School, which has an A.
Country Club amenities and numerous recreation options at Roswell Area Park
The Brookfield Country Club has a golf course, tennis courts, gym, pool and restaurant. Membership is available to residents and non-residents of the neighborhood. Just south of the community is Leita Thompson Memorial Park, which has a dog park and walking and hiking trails. Roswell Area Park is also nearby and has playgrounds, a pool, baseball and football fields and a recreation center. Roswell Recreation and Parks offers many extracurricular activities for children, including summer camps, gymnastics, dance classes and sports leagues.
Dining in downtown Roswell and shopping at Alpharetta’s Avalon mall
A large shopping area is just south of the neighborhood along Woodstock Road or State Route 92. It has numerous retail stores, including Target and The Fresh Market grocery store. Further southeast along State Route 92 is another shopping plaza with Publix and Trader Joe’s, plus The Home Depot and Kohl’s. Downtown Roswell is not far and offers plenty of dining options. Table and Main is a quaint Southern restaurant with garden seating and is a popular dinner destination. Lucky’s is a local favorite for burgers. The large Avalon shopping mall is in neighboring Alpharetta.
Transportation and crime in Brookfield West
Gallagher says the neighborhood’s central location between downtown Roswell and Alpharetta is one of its appeals. It is also close to Atlanta, about 30 miles south along Interstate 75 or Georgia State Route 400. The neighborhood's CAP Index crime score is 2 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.
