Saddle Creek is a friendly, conveniently located Roswell neighborhood

At Saddle Creek, it's a common occurrence for neighbors to stop each other on runs to say hello and greet dogs by their names. “It’s a really friendly neighborhood, there’s people out walking all the time,” says Pamela Medor-Ellis, a Saddle Creek resident and Realtor with Atlanta Communities. Children are often at the clubhouse before school for their swim team practice and gather for Easter egg hunts and Christmas parties. A fire truck comes out every Fourth of July and kids follow it around in a parade. The community is also near many amenities. “It’s a great location for anything: any doctor, grocery store, pharmacy,” says Medor-Ellis. “Anything you need is really close by.”

Various home styles on large lots

Saddle Creek has about 500 homes built in the 1970s and 1980s. Architectural styles vary and include Colonial Revivals, ranches and traditional homes. “It’s not a cookie cutter neighborhood," Medor-Ellis says. The HOA is voluntary but active. Houses sit on large lots and often have long driveways and garages. Tall, leafy trees provide shade on the wide streets. There are no sidewalks. Properties between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet sell for between $525,000 and $620,000. Larger homes, some close to 5,000 square feet, can sell for between $700,000 and $900,000.

A-rated public schools and plenty of extracurricular activities

Children are zoned for Fulton County schools. Sweet Apple Elementary School has an A on Niche, Elkins Pointe Middle School has an A-minus and Milton High School has an A-plus. Milton High School has about 2,000 students and offers more than 30 Advanced Placement courses. Sports offerings include basketball, tennis, lacrosse and golf. Students can also join a variety of clubs, including the robotics and debate teams.

Clubhouse amenities and numerous nearby parks

The neighborhood clubhouse has a pool, playground and tennis courts. Sweet Apple Park is adjacent to Saddle Creek and has baseball and soccer fields, a playground and walking trails. Hembree Park, located east along Hembree Road, has a recreation center, tennis courts and picnic areas. About 4 miles south is Roswell Area Park, which has a pool and football fields. Roswell Recreation and Parks offers many youth activities, including sports, summer camps and dance classes.

Nearby grocery options and shopping plazas

Numerous grocery stores are within a 10-minute drive of the neighborhood, Medor-Ellis says. Houze Road leads north to Publix or south to Sprouts Farmers Market. About 2 miles south of Saddle Creek along Holcomb Bridge Road are adjoining shopping plazas with retail stores, a movie theater and restaurants. Dreamland BBQ and Athens Greek Restaurant, both on Alpharetta Highway, have good reviews.

Saddle Creek straddles major thoroughfare, not far from downtown Roswell and Atlanta

The neighborhood straddles Houze Road, or State Route 140, a major thoroughfare. Residents can enter or exit the neighborhood from Houze, as well as from Hembree Road and Crabapple Road. Saddle Creek is about 4 miles from Downtown Roswell and 25 miles from Atlanta. The CAP Index crime score is 1 out of 10, which is lower than the national average of 4.
