Laidback Round Rock suburb along the busy Interstate 35 corridor
Though Round Rock is growing fast, residents of suburban Wood Glen can still take things slow. Single-family homes line the streets, with sidewalks to link them to amenity-filled parks and top-rated schools. Wood Glen is also just as well connected by car, with an entrance to I-35 along the neighborhood's eastern side that gives residents access to Austin and beyond. Retail and restaurants cluster in the interstate corridor, from locally-founded Tex-Mex chains to retail options. "It's amazing how well it's done and how popular it's become," says Chris Tinnell, a native Texan and broker associate with Compass. "There's a lot of good amenities, with the pools and the hiking trails. It's got a lot going for it."
Subdivisions ranging from cozy two-bedrooms to luxury estates
Sidewalk-lined streets welcome residents into the neighborhood, where single-family homes have tidy landscaping. The area comprises multiple subdivisions, and with various communities, home prices also vary. Homes in Wood Glen typically are priced between the mid-500s and $800,000 depending on lot size and whether a home has been renovated since its original construction, whereas homes in surrounding communities like Walsh Ranch or Brushy Creek North can range from $800,000 to upward of $1 million. There's just as much variety in style as in price, with no two houses looking the same. Some new constructions have a Craftsman look, with gable brackets and wooden columns. Other established homes have all-brick or stone exteriors with large, arched entryways.
You can find stone contemporary single story homes throughout the neighborhood.

Scenic nature walks at Sendero Springs Greenbelt
Residents can walk to neighborhood parks like Somerset Park, which has a playground near picnic tables and grills so parents can keep an eye on the kids while barbecuing. The park is also along the Wildcat Trail, which connects to the Sendero Springs Greenbelt, a 2.34-mile path for walking and biking along scenic ponds where migratory birds flock. Wading birds aren't the only ones who can go for a swim, however. The trail leads to Sendero Springs Park, which has a heated pool where residents can take a dip year-round. For all-season activities, the Round Rock Sports Center hosts local tournaments and conventions in its indoor complex with six basketball courts and 12 volleyball courts.
Enjoy a picnic in the shade or play on the new playground.
The park also has a neighborhood lap pool connected to it.

Southern comfort food at Jack Allen's Kitchen
Local eateries and chain restaurants file along the Interstate 35 corridor. Austin-founded chains like Chuy's, Torchy's Tacos and Hopdoddy Burger Bar are popular for their laidback atmospheres and Tex-Mex classics. Kerbey Lane Cafe is a popular spot for filling breakfast plates. Jack Allen's Kitchen serves southern comfort foods sourced from local farmers and businesses. Round Rock Premium Outlets, about 5 miles from the community, houses name brands of all kinds, and there's also an H-E-B next door for a quick grocery stop on the way home.

Less than half an hour from Austin via I-35
Interstate 35 is less than a mile away for most residents, making it easy to hop on and drive to downtown Austin, which is 22 miles away. "It's not too close where you hear the highway roar, but close enough to get there quickly," Tinnell says. Residents mainly use the highway to get around since there isn't public transportation around. The Baylor Scott and White Medical Center is also less than 5 miles away, meaning residents are never far from medical care.
