Slow lifestyle near busy downtown and Natomas Marketplace
When people think of Natomas Crossing, they’re often thinking of cypress-lined streets, neighborhood parks and top-rated schools. Residents can enjoy this calm, suburban lifestyle while still being close to downtown Sacramento, only a 6-mile drive on Interstate 5. They’re also right next to Natomas Marketplace's commercial hub, where fitness centers and international restaurants have been local favorites for decades. In this neighborhood and other parts of North Natomas, local government and nonprofits have fostered a sense of community. “Our city council is big on education and getting people involved with the schools,” says Sterling Royal, a Sacramento Realtor since 2001. “Our chamber of commerce holds a lot of events with the police department, and North Natomas Jibe has a repair program to get people out biking in the community.”
Spanish homes with recent build dates, extra room
People that buy in Natomas Crossing are often looking for a fresh property. “The newness of the area makes it different than South Natomas, where the homes were built in the 80s,” says Sterling. “Here, you’re looking at homes built in the early 2000s, all the way up to 2019. And they’ve got more square footage.” This new construction is focused in the southwest corner of the neighborhood, while a few condos and townhomes dot the northeastern side. Most properties are Spanish two-stories with yards close to the sidewalk, and lucky buyers might find a backyard pool. Three-bedroom homes typically range from $425,000 to $550,000, and four-beds hover around $575,000. The average home sells in just 22 days, quicker than the national average by 20 days.

Top-rated Inderkum High and charter schools
Students can start at Natomas Park Elementary, rated a B by Niche. Its attendance count is 650, and it has a student-teacher ratio of 22 to 1. The next step is likely Natomas Middle, and this similarly sized school receives a C-plus rating. Finally, Inderkum High gets an A-minus from Niche and ranks among Sacramento's top five standout high schools. Its 2,300 students can choose from specialized pathways, such as dual enrollment, broadcast media and public safety. Plus, their athletic teams are consistent winners. “The high schools do well in basketball and football,” says Royal. “They usually make it to sectionals, and quite a lot of people go to those games.”Alternatively, students could apply to Natomas Charter School for all grade levels. This California Distinguished School receives an A rating from Niche, and it’s considered one of the top charters in the city. While this school is located in the neighborhood, the rest of these campuses are a few miles north in Natomas proper.
Inderkum High School is an award-winning school in the area.

Walkability to Tanzanite, Airfield and Linden Parks
Green spaces are accessible in every portion of this suburb, as three neighborhood parks are within walking distance of each other. In the south, Tanzanite Community Park features 23 acres of open space, including a fishing pond and a skate park. Its futsal, basketball and soccer areas are popular with local kids, and its dog park is fully fenced. Only a quarter mile north, Airfield Park opened in 2021, and its playground features a miniature zipline. Linden Park, about a mile up the road, offers a multipurpose turf field with a volleyball court; students at Natomas Charter have these amenities right next to their play area.
Airfield Park is a unique park with an aviator theme.

Natomas Marketplace and local recs
For department stores and chain restaurants, Natomas Marketplace is just east on Truxel Road. Big box retailers such as Walmart and Ross cater to everyday needs, while food spots like In-N-Out and Chili’s are suited for a casual meal. Small-town favorites are mixed in: Yue Huang Restaurant is highly rated for Chinese fare, and Falafel Corner gives a taste of the Mediterranean. “Oshima Sushi has been in the community for 20-plus years, and it has a great atmosphere to watch the Kings game,” says Sterling Royal. Moving north on Truxel Road, a cluster of local restaurants caters to all tastebuds. Oyster bars sit across the parking lot from hibachi places, and pizzerias share walls with coffee shops.
Walmart, Home Depot, Ross, and other retail stores are located at Natomas Marketplace.
Natomas Crossing has a wide variety of restaurants and retail options.

North Natomas Regional Park, Discovery Park events
While the neighborhood itself doesn’t have many events, residents are a short drive from other districts. North Natomas Regional Park, about 2 miles north, hosts a farmers market every Saturday and movie nights every summer. About 3 miles south, Discovery Park can attract over 25,000 visitors for live music: these multi-genre festivals include the Sol Blume, Goldensky Country and Aftershock.
Quiet streets and Interstate 5
Since this suburb is only a single square mile and doesn’t get much through traffic, walking or biking is common. Interstate 80 runs east and west, providing access to other neighborhoods in Northern Sacramento. Interstate 5 runs north-south, so downtown Sacramento is only a 6-mile drive. This trip usually takes about 10 minutes, but big city traffic could slow commuters.
