Strawberry Manor

Midcentury homes, investment properties and rentals
Strawberry Manor was primarily developed in the 1950s and ‘60s, and its ranch-style homes and bungalows feature prominent two-car garages. Properties are set close together, their flat, uniform setbacks enclosed by wrought-iron or wooden fences and sometimes dotted with palm trees or a mature oak. Like many neighborhoods in North Sacramento, more than half of residents rent their properties, and many fixer-uppers are available for potential investors. “That whole area is its own housing market,” says Nicki Kalteis, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker. Prices range from $280,000 to $450,000, and largely depend on a home's condition and outstanding repairs.Accessing Interstate 80 about a mile away
Interstate 80 is about a mile north and leads about 5 miles east to Interstate 5; these two freeways connect much of the greater Sacramento area. Downtown Sacramento is about 5 miles south. Sacramento Regional Transit buses stop around the neighborhood’s edges, with routes that travel throughout the city. Kaiser Permanente Sacramento Medical Center is the closest hospital, about 5 miles east. Sacramento McClellan Airport is about 6 miles away, while Sacramento International Airport is about 11 miles away. Train tracks border the neighborhood on the west, with active trains passing by and bringing some noise pollution during the day.Fairbanks Elementary and other local schools
Fairbanks Elementary School is set in the neighborhood’s center and earns a C-minus from Niche; its events for local families include a Jog-A-Thon fundraiser, where students collect pledge donations based on how many laps they can run during the event. The C-rated Martin Luther King Jr. Technology Academy offers computer science and digital media electives, as well as a Spanish Dual Language Immersion program. Students at the B-rated Grant Union High School can enroll in Hmong language classes or join the after-school Hmong Club; indigenous to East and Southeast Asia, the Hmong community has a strong presence in North Sacramento.Casual dining options on Northgate Boulevard
Just west of Strawberry Manor, at the intersection of Northgate Boulevard and San Juan Road, Foods Co. is the closest grocery store, and casual counter-service restaurants include Burger Hub and Original Pizza House. Farther north on Northgate Boulevard, 524 Mexican Food is a popular spot for authentic cuisine and blended margaritas.Strawberry Manor Park and other nearby green spaces
Strawberry Manor Park is within walking distance for many residents, offering shaded playgrounds and a picnic pavilion. Gateway Park, just east, has walkways shaded by Tupelo trees, and locals might spot bunnies hopping across the open fields. Just north, the 9-mile Charles Robertson Park has a popular skate park, as well as basketball courts. Summer temperatures here regularly top 90 degrees, so many locals cool off in the seasonal public pool in Johnston Park, about a mile away.Community May Day celebration in Del Paso Heights
About 2 miles east in Del Paso Heights, the Del Paso Heights Community Association and the Sacramento Police Department host a May Day celebration outside the local police station. This block party-style event includes free food and music, as well as live speakers, with the goal of fostering a good relationship between locals and law enforcement.
