North Sacramento suburb close to parks and the freeway
Set 5 miles north of downtown Sacramento, the small suburb of Strawberry Manor is full of midcentury homes that are popular with investors and first-time buyers. Local families can walk their kids to school at Fairbanks Elementary, in the neighborhood’s center, or visit local playgrounds, pocket parks and Steelhead Creek. A few apartment complexes and the Back to Bible Church are found east, restaurants and grocery stores line Northgate Boulevard, and Interstate 80 is about a mile north.
Midcentury homes, investment properties and rentals
Strawberry Manor was primarily developed in the 1950s and ‘60s, and its ranch-style homes and bungalows feature prominent two-car garages. Properties are set close together, their flat, uniform setbacks enclosed by wrought-iron or wooden fences and sometimes dotted with palm trees or a mature oak. Like many neighborhoods in North Sacramento, more than half of residents rent their properties, and many fixer-uppers are available for potential investors. “That whole area is its own housing market,” says Nicki Kalteis, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker. Prices range from $280,000 to $450,000, and largely depend on a home's condition and outstanding repairs.

I've lived here for over 15 years and for the most part, it is a quiet community. The neighbors are usually respectful and warm/welcoming. Navigating the neighborhood can be confusing at first but the streets are pretty easy to learn. The roads are wide, perfect for those who may have to park cars on the street or like to entertain guests and family. It is not far from a few grocery stores.
