Residents share access to all of Rancho Sahuarita’s amenities and a packed calendar of community events; there’s also easy access to nearby Interstate 19. The overall CAP Index Crime Score is 2 out of 10, compared to the national average of 4.

The Presidios at Rancho Sahuarita is part of the Sahuarita Unified School District, rated B-plus overall by Niche. Neighborhood homes are within 5 miles of the district’s schools. Within the neighborhood, Parque del Presidio features a playground, sand volleyball and community pool—a welcome respite when summer temperatures soar above 100 degrees. Nearby, Rancho Sahuarita Park offers an open field popular for a round of frisbee or a pick-up soccer game. Just two miles away, residents can fish for largemouth bass or take the canoe out at the 15-acre Sahuarita Lake Park. “It’s one of the only communities in Pima County with a lake,” Esala says. Next to the park, Club Rancho Sahuarita includes an expansive splash park and pool with areas designed for all ages.

Community socials and annual traditions in Sahuarita

Rancho Sahuarita Village Program HOA hosts events year-round for the community. “There’ll be outdoor barbecues and movie nights where they set a big movie screen in the park,” Esala says. Monthly events include coffee socials, story time for tots and food truck round-ups at Club Rancho Sahuarita, but there are also special events like the annual Father-Daughter Dance in February at Rancho Resort. The town of Sahuarita also hosts community events, including seasonal celebrations for holidays like the Fourth of July and Christmas. “They decorate the town for Christmas—everyone’s got Christmas lights,” Esala says. The winter festivities include a light parade, tree-lighting ceremony, ice skating and more. “They really get into that community feel,” Esala says.

Groceries, fast food and more at Rancho Sahuarita Marketplace

About 4 miles away, Rancho Sahuarita Marketplace offers fast-food chains like Subway and Dunkin’, and a large Fry’s Marketplace. “That’s the biggest grocery store I’ve ever seen,” Esala says. There are also a handful of locally owned businesses, including beauty services, dentist offices and an animal hospital. To catch the game with a cold beer, Pub 1922 is a gastropub serving happy hour specials and comfort fare like pulled pork sandwiches and personal pizzas, with weekly karaoke on Fridays. Just down the street, additional fast-food options include Taco Bell and Panda Express. About 9 miles away, Madera Marketplace has big-box retailers like Walmart and Ross Dress for Less.

Single-family homes in master-planned suburbia

Set along sidewalk-lined streets dotted with mailboxes and mesquite trees, the neighborhood's single-family homes were built during the late 2000s through the early 2010s and are new traditional with Spanish-inspired features, like arched entryways, clay-tiled roofs and desert-hued facades. These three- to five-bedroom homes have layouts ranging from 1,200 to 2,800 square feet, typically including attached garages and covered patios. Lots range from 4,000 to 9,000 square feet; gravel-packed front yards are often peppered with desert plantings like barrel cacti and agave. Prices range from about $280,000 to $470,000, depending on a home’s size and special features, like private pools. All homes in The Presidios at Rancho Sahuarita are part of the local homeowners association, whose monthly dues of about $130 go toward community upkeep.

Easy access to Tucson via Interstate 19

Interstate 19 is about 2 miles away, providing a direct route to downtown Tucson, 20 miles away. Residential streets are sidewalk-lined and bikeable, though there aren’t any bike lanes in the neighborhood. For public transportation, Sun Tran buses stop along West Pima Mine Road. Northwest Medical Center Sahuarita is 5 miles away, and Tucson International Airport is about 13 miles away.
