Former vacation spot offers year-round leisure
Once considered a summer vacation destination for Chicagoans looking to get away from the city, Valley View is now a small suburban community nestled between St. Charles and South Elgin. Running along the Fox River and tucked between state parks and forest preserves, Valley View now provides the serenity once reserved for summers and weekend trips to its residents all year round. Today, a passionate group of residents running the Valley View History Project helps neighbors learn how the neighborhood turned from a summer destination to a postwar permanent settlement. “It’s a historic city with a rich history and the residents are proud of that,” says Christine Currey, who has over 15 years of experience in St. Charles real estate.
