Painted Desert is primarily residential, composed of winding streets of single-family homes. There is a small business park called the Painted Desert Professional Plaza on its eastern side, which has a financial planner and a health spa. The neighborhood lots are conveniently landscaped by the HOA, which the neighborhood a cohesive look. They often have agave plants and palm trees planted in stone or gravel beds, sometimes with small, manicured patches of grass. Developed mostly through the 2000s, the houses tend to be ranch-style with Mediterranean accents like tiled roofs and stucco exteriors. Some of the houses benefit from mountain views and covered patios. Sales prices range from $400,000 to $850,000.

Utah Tech University offers nearly 300 academic programs only 3 miles north of the neighborhood. There’s no public transit in Painted Desert. St. George Regional Airport about is about 10 miles southeast, while Harry Reid International Airport is about 130 miles away in Las Vegas.
