A rural Indiana community on Ohio's border
At The Possum Saloon, one of Bright's go-to bars, a backstage wall of cowboy boots offers the perfect backdrop for up-and-coming country musicians. But it's not just the local music scene that gives Bright its rural charm. Driving past its residential areas and towards this community's outskirts, locals will find farmland and undeveloped woods that imbue a decidedly remote ambiance. "There's a strong sense of community and a kind of country-but-not-too-country feel," says local Realtor Lorie Eisert of RE/MAX, who has served the area for over 15 years. Perhaps part of the "not-too-country feel" is that Bright boasts a quaint downtown along State Line Road, where residents can head to bars to listen to live music or enjoy a meal out with friends. Still, small-town Indiana living is how most locals would best describe Bright. "Everybody knows everybody," affirms Cassie Gaspard, manager of The Possum Saloon.
Farmhouses, ranch-styles and more
Homes here line quiet streets that often stretch into cul-de-sacs. Classic farmhouses, ranch-style designs and new traditional developments are particularly common in the community. There are also condo options here, which can start at around $200,000. Single-family homes typically range in price from $300,000 to $950,000, depending on the property's size and condition. Many residences sit on nearly an acre of land, while others contour one of the community's many ponds. For those looking to design a custom-built home, vacant lots are also available for purchase. Adding to Bright's tranquility, this community receives a 1 out of 10 crime score from the CAP Index, which ranks lower than the national average of 4. It's also important to note that some of the Whitewater River's tributaries run through Bright, which can cause some homes to have higher than average Flood Factor Scores.

Vitor's Bistro and Sushi Bar, The Possum Saloon and more
Vitor's Bistro and Sushi Bar offers a diverse menu, with items ranging from potstickers to their signature French toast. This Bright establishment also features a cigar patio that serves as a social hub for patrons while they wait for their food. Another popular eatery in Bright is Los Primo's Mexican, best known for its sizzling fajitas and specialty margarita offerings. For a night on the town, a number of Bright's bars regularly host live music, including The Possum Saloon. "We named The Possum Saloon after George Jones," Gaspard says, citing the country musician's infamous nickname as "The Possum." Given the name, it's no wonder that Gaspard refers to the bar as mainly a "country music venue." For shopping options, Bright's Merrilee's Hardware and George's Pharmacy locations provide important amenities, while those looking to pick up groceries generally head to the Kroger — the nearest option is about 6 miles away and is a Kroger Marketplace location.

Bright Meadows Park, Sugar Ridge Golf Course and more
At Bright Meadows Park, residents can opt to enjoy a relaxing stroll or practice their footwork out on the soccer field. For additional recreational options, Gaspard adds that many of her employees spend their free days hitting the greens at the Sugar Ridge Golf Course. It spans across the Indiana border and into Ohio, offering rolling greens and wooded fairways. Other nearby spots include the Friends of Lauren Hill Memorial Park, a green space designated for dogs and the Doug Dunaway Memorial Motocross Park, a popular spot among dirt bikers. When the weather gets cold enough, Perfect North offers skiing and snow-tubing less than 10 miles from the community. It draws people from all over the Tri-State Area.

Bright Community Parade and community fundraisers
According to Gaspard, the annual Fourth of July Bright Community Parade is one of the community's biggest events. Unsurprisingly, it's a big hit with locals since "Bright is very patriotic," she says, citing how "if a veteran walks into the bar, people buy them drinks." For other gatherings, many people head to one of the local churches. "Everybody comes together very well, when people are in need," Gaspard says, referencing events like biking fundraisers which the community frequently puts on. "We also hold donation drives every year for Christmas," she adds.
Commutes to downtown Cincinnati, CVG Airport
For work, a sizeable section of Bright's population commutes to and from downtown Cincinnati, which is 27 miles away via Interstate 275 and Interstate 74. The city is home to major employers like Procter & Gamble. Many people here also work within Dearborn County — some are even employed by businesses in Bright. One of the county's major employers is the St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital, which is just about 10 miles away via Salt Fork and Pribble roads. When residents travel, they can take an approximately 21-mile drive via State Line Road and I-275 to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
