Franz Park – along with surrounding neighborhoods Cheltenham, Clayton-Tamm, Ellendale and Hi-Pointe – formed an area locally called Dogtown in the 1880s. The specific street that I live on I find to feel a bit gloomy, but I do live very close to places with great atmospheres. The main strip of Maplewood with lots of unique restaurants and shopping is very close. I'm also very close to both main highways, so I can get many places fast. I would live near this area again, but I would prefer a different street with a more "neighborhood" feel.
