Patch

Character is a given in Patch
Unlike other well-established parts of St. Louis, where strips of brick rowhomes are prevalent, no two houses on any given street are quite the same. Homes were mostly built between the mid-19th and early 20th centuries, but the neighborhood also includes towering Italianate options and modest bungalows with either brick or vinyl finishing. Single-family homes are most prevalent, but there are some multifamily structures here and there. Lots tend to total just under one-tenth of an acre, providing modest yards, and homes have a little bit of space between them. Prices range from $30,000 to $60,000 for properties in need of significant repairs or renovation, while those that are more move-in ready go for anywhere between $80,000 and $200,000.Finding a close-by bite to eat is becoming easier
Over the last 10 years, the dining landscape has broadened in the neighborhood. “There’s a bunch of things that have opened in the Patch neighborhood,” says Jeff Uren, a Realtor with Worth Clark Realty specializing in the southern St. Louis area. Perennial Artisan Ales, a brewery and tasting room with 30 beer varieties, opened here in 2011. The food menu includes tacos and South American-style hot dogs. Stacked Burger Bar arrived in 2013, and Uren believes it has the best burgers in the city. Sugarwitch whips up small-batch specialty ice cream sandwiches and opened in late 2022, and Kabul Express STL, an Afghan restaurant, opened in early 2023. There’s a Schnucks just outside the neighborhood, too, in the Loughborough Commons shopping plaza that also has a Lowe’s.Locals can feel the beat at Fanetti
Patch residents are making concerted efforts to improve the community. The neighborhood's Fanetti Music Fest started in 2022. Held each October at Patch’s Fanetti Plaza, the festival features several live bands and hours of free music. Community members meet on the third Monday of every other month with local law enforcement and representatives at Saint Trinity Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall to discuss issues and share information.Woerner offers educational extended care
Saint Louis Public Schools system, which has a C rating on Niche, provides public education. Woerner Elementary serves preschool through fifth grade and provides support programs beyond the school day. It has a before-school literacy and math program and an after-school art program. Woerner feeds into Lyon Academy at Blow for grades 6 to 8. Roosevelt High’s extracurricular activities include a student council and an esports group. All three schools receive C-minus grades.Fanetti is far from the only green space in the area
Fanetti Plaza, home of the Fanetti Music Fest, is a roughly 2-acre spot dotted with trees, park benches and a fountain. Patch is also home to the almost 2-acre St. Louis Square Park, which has a playground, and the nearly 5-acre Alaska Park, which some use for dog walking. The 180-acre Carondelet Park is 2 miles north. Carondelet is the third-largest park in the city and its lakes are popular for fishing. There’s an integrated rec complex, too, with a pool.Broadway brings commuters closer to the highway
Local routes and interstates are accessible from the neighborhood. Broadway, a thoroughfare lined with MetroBus stops and a connection to Interstate 55, bisects the Patch neighborhood. Commuters can take I-55 up to Downtown St. Louis, an 8-mile trip. I-55 also runs into I-70, helping travelers reach the St. Louis Lambert International Airport, 22 miles away. The 356-bed SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital is an 8-mile commute on I-55, too.Crime
The neighborhood’s CAP Index Crime Score of 8 is double the national average of 4. Instances of assault, burglary and theft are most prevalent in the area. Motor vehicle theft is up 61% in particular from 2023 to 2024, according to St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department statistics.
