Welcome to Azalea
Baseball Hall of Famer Babe Ruth loved Azalea, which he affectionately knew as “Azaleaville.” This Florida community was once home to St. Petersburg’s premier golf course and hotel, the Jungle Country Club, where Ruth celebrated several of his birthdays. By the 1950s, vast swaths of the golfing greens had been developed into the network of homes now known as Azalea. Today, the community works dually to preserve this distinctive history and ensure the neighborhood’s future success. “It’s attractive for anyone looking for affordable living,” says Denise Antonewitz, a Realtor with Keller Williams St. Pete Realty. “You’re close to tons of shopping, as Tyrone Square Mall is very close, along with a lot of restaurants. Plus, it’s only minutes from the Treasure Island beaches.” This small Saint Petersburg community offers life close to the beach, the Pinellas Trail and plenty of shopping and dining options.
