As the name implies, Crescent Lake is a waterfront paradise with lakeside homes and Tampa Bay just blocks away. “You’ve got a mix of older homes out there and the neighborhood has a real sense of character that you don’t always get with those premade subdivisions,” says Matt Brooks a local real estate agent with Realty Experts. “They have a neighborhood newsletter and things like that. We went for a walk after breakfast just the other day and on the way stopped and talked for a while with a woman hanging decorations in her front yard. It’s just a neighborly area.”
Homes are predominantly cottages and bungalows that can range in price from $650,000 to $1,400,000 depending on the home’s size, age and how close they are to the lake. The houses can range in size from 1,400 to 2,800 square feet, and in this very established neighborhood, homes date as far back as 1910 with new construction as recent as the early 2000s demonstrating that the community continues to grow. These quaint homes boast spacious front porches perfect for sipping your morning coffee. Fencing offers privacy while you enjoy your pool or back patio and carports provide additional convenience. Along with the classic gabled roof and large windows, you’ll see brightly colored home exteriors adding even more curb appeal to the charming streets. Lots are typically between 5,000 and 8,000 square feet and landscaped with lush Florida greenery. Palm trees shade the cobblestone sidewalks winding throughout the neighborhood.
Students in Crescent Heights can attend Woodlawn Elementary School, which received a C-plus rating from Niche. Students can get active with the St. Anthony’s Meek and Mighty Triathlon Team, get their hands dirty in the school vegetable garden or help the community through the Feeding Tampa Bay Food Pantry Program. John Hopkins Middle School is home to the district’s only professional theater at the middle school level and has an award-winning Jr. Thespian Troupe. It also has a national award-winning Journalism program that is regularly visited by journalists from all over the world. St. Petersburg High School received an A rating from Niche and is home to the first International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in the state. Students can participate in the AVID program, AP classes and Dual Enrollment with St. Pete College. Additional academic programs include the Center of Construction Technologies and Hospitality and Tourism Program.
Enjoy the fresh air at Crescent Lake Park, where you’re surrounded by beautiful banyan trees and an impressive collection of amenities. Start a pickup game with friends at the Huggins-Stengel Sports Complex or work on your swing at the tennis and pickleball courts. Let your little ones explore the playground or bring your four-legged friend to the dog park. Go for a jog on the trails or bring a blanket for a session of Healthy St. Pete's Free Yoga. To experience more Florida flora, visit the Sunken Gardens. This historic botanical garden started as a commercial roadside attraction in the 1930s and is still open to the public today, making it one of the oldest commercial tourist attractions on the state’s west coast. There are over 500 species of tropical plants accompanied by waterfalls, flamingos and parrots.
Visit Karma Eatery for a relaxed cafe vibe and a health-conscious menu filled with pressed juices, açaí bowls and salads. The eatery was first established in 2015 by a mother-daughter duo intent on bringing nutrient-dense foods to the area and has since grown into three locations. Kick back with some classic pub grub at Three Bird’s Tavern, a vintage farmhouse with multiple bars, a patio and a wraparound porch. Their scratch kitchen churns out quality flavor paired with local brews. Stop by the Left Bank Bistro for sandwiches and seafood served in an understated French venue. Their cocktails are inspired by French art and their atmosphere captures the essence of 1920s jazz and champagne.
Soak up the salty air in Crescent Lake and enjoy a convenient location less than a mile north of Downtown St. Pete and all the additional amenities it has to offer.
