Pasadena Yacht and Country Club
Private marina and championship golf course
Its namesake, the Pasadena Yacht and Country Club, is the heart of the 300-acre community. The 18-hole golf course was originally designed in the 1920s and later renovated by Arnold Palmer; it's hosted a number of PGA and LPGA events over the decades. Amenities also include tennis and pickleball courts, fitness facilities and an outdoor pool. The clubhouse overlooks an 82-slip private marina with access to Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico via Boca Ciega Bay and the Pass-A-Grille channel. The use of most club amenities requires membership. Two public marinas, Pasadena Marina and Mariner’s Cove Marina, sit east and west of the community. Wood Ibis Park is within walking distance of Pasadena Yacht & Country Club and has a large lake at the center, a mile-long trail and a butterfly garden. Tomlinson Park is less than 2 miles east and has a playground, ballfields, a nature boardwalk, a batting cage and a fitness area. Clymer Park is within walking distance of Tomlinson and offers two boardwalks, 3 acres of open green space and a sculpture garden. Gulfport Beach is less than 2 miles south of the neighborhood. A hot spot for sunbathing and swimming, it also has volleyball and bocce ball courts, a fishing pier and the Michael J. Yakes Recreation Complex. St. Pete Beach and Treasure Island, with their wide, white-sand coastal beaches, are 4 miles east. Jack’s Island sits in the middle of the bay and is a secluded spot for paddleboarding, kayaking and hanging out in its hidden treehouse. From condos to multimillion-dollar Mediterranean mansions
The gated enclave is made up of different communities that include condominium complexes, townhouses and single-family homes. Mediterranean Revivals, coastal contemporary homes and ranch-style houses range from the mid-$400,000s for two-bedroom homes measuring around 1,400 square feet to nearly $3 million for custom-built four- and five-bedroom estates on the water or golf course. Most have pools and multicar garages, and driveways are spacious, allowing room for boats or other toys to be parked. Houses can sit on large lots, with many stretching to nearly 1 acre. Higher-end homes, like those in Kipps Colony Estates, sit directly on the fairways or along the water and have private docks. Condo prices range from the mid-$200,000s for two-bedroom units in the Golfview Condo subdivision to over $1 million for waterfront three-bedrooms in the Kipps Colony subdivision, where residents have access to a pool and spa and can become club members within the first 30 days of ownership. Townhouses are available in the Villas Del Verde and Pelican Creek subdivisions, ranging from $550,000 to around $720,000. All residents in the community are within walking distance of the club. Membership is by invitation only and is tiered, including different golf memberships and a sports family membership. There’s a $12,500 initiation fee, and dues range from $5,000 to $10,000 annually. “Living here is great for first-time homebuyers because you can get bumped up on the list to be a country club member,” Perry says of the community as a whole. “The wait time can be as long as a year.”Upscale country club dining and near trendy local spots like O'Maddy's
The country club has three dining options, which nnon-members can also enjoy. Hagen Grille is a casual spot with a menu of burgers, pizza and salads. The poolside restaurant, Bayside Grille, offers pub fare like wraps, wings and sandwiches. The main dining room is more upscale and offers brunch every Sunday. Most other shopping and dining options are off Pasadena Avenue and Gulfport Boulevard. To the west, South Pasadena Shopping Center has a Walmart, Ace Hardware and Pasadena Produce and Deli. The shopping plaza is also home to Keke’s Breakfast Café, known for its pancakes, French toast and other comfort breakfast classics. The Horse & Jockey is a popular English-style pub where locals can watch the latest soccer matches while enjoying fish and chips or cottage pie. Siri’s Gourmet Burgers and Pizza is a no-frills shack that’s another local favorite for its burgers, hoagies and cheesesteaks. O’Maddy’s near Gulfport Beach is the go-to spot for nighttime entertainment with bar bites and regular live music. The Pearl Restaurant is the closest fine dining establishment, offering seafood dishes and an extensive wine and cocktail menu. Catherine A. Hickman Theater is less than 2 miles from the community and is a lively performing arts venue with regular stage productions, concerts and film festivals. Downtown St. Petersburg is 7 miles east, and Pass-A-Grille Historic District is 8 miles south, offering more diverse shopping, dining and entertainment.Home to the top school district in Tampa
