A primarily residential area right on the Bayou Grande, Tanglewood has waterfront properties galore.

Homes in Tanglewood are typically stucco ranch-style houses right on the water. Prices typically range from $465,000 to $1,350,000 depending on the size of the home and how close it is to the water. Homes can be anywhere from 1,300 to 2,400 square feet in size and were typically built in the 1960s and 1970s. Barrel roof tiles add an element of Spanish influence to some of the houses while pergolas and palm trees add even more charm to the streets. Two-car garages and pools are common amenities. And lush green lawns generously decorated with local flowers add some color to the curb appeal. Lot sizes are typically between 8,000 and 10,000 square feet so you still have some elbow room but are close enough to get to know your neighbors.

Students in this neighborhood can attend Shore Acres Elementary School, which received a B-plus rating on Niche. Academic programs include gifted education, an Extended Learning Program, Character Education and an award-winning art program. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities like chorus, strings, multicultural club, running club and after-school Spanish.

Meadowlawn Middle School received a C-plus rating from Niche. It has about 885 students with a student-teacher ratio of 20 to 1. Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities like Battle of the Books, athletic and intramural sports and a variety of student clubs.

Northeast High School received a B-plus rating from Niche and ranks as one of the largest high schools in the Pinellas County School System. The school offers programs like certified career academies, Advanced Placement courses and dual enrollment courses. Students can earn college credit and industry certifications and can also participate in community-based instruction programs through partnerships with St. Petersburg College.

Get some fresh air at the nearby Denver Park, which has multiple athletic courts and a playground. Test your skills on the tennis courts or join a friendly community baseball game. Shore Acres Mini Park is another nearby option with palm trees offering shade to wide-open green spaces.

The closest restaurants can be found along 4th Street to the west of the neighborhood. Try Cafe Mozart for a German bakery experience complete with homemade breads, strudels and pastries made fresh every day. Serbian Mediterranean is the place to be for classic Mediterranean cuisine like fluffy pita bread and charcuterie boards. Rumba Island Bar & Grill has flavorful favorites like island-style quesadillas and jerk chicken wings. Wash your meal down with a signature drink from the tiki bar.

Residents can explore the nearby Mangrove Bay and Cypress Links Golf Course. These courses make up two out of the three public golf courses owned and operated by the City of St. Petersburg. Mangrove Bay is a championship course spread across 180 acres while Cypress Links is a smaller, 9-hole option. Golfers can enjoy additional amenities like pro shops, snack bars, a driving range and lessons.

Residents are conveniently located 5 miles north of Downtown St. Petersburg and all the additional amenities it has to offer.
