Charming, walkable Uptown taps into the spirit of nearby Downtown St. Pete with high-quality dining and unique historic homes. “The majority of the neighborhood was built in 1915 and it’s got so much character, like cobblestone streets and very diverse home styles with interesting architectural features,” says Jude Creamer, a local Broker associate with HomeSmart. “So much is within walking distance too. Grocery stores, drug stores, restaurants, it’s all so close. It’s the ultimate in-town residential living.”

Homes in Uptown consist of adorable little bungalows and cottages that date back to the early 1900s. Prices range from $400,000 to $1,000,000 and homes can be anywhere from 1,000 to 2,400 square feet in size. Lot sizes tend to be smaller, typically between 3,500 and 6,500 square feet, and on-street parking is common. There aren’t many homes with attached garages but you may find the occasional carport. Landscaping is modest but lush green lawns are often shaded by palm trees.

Students in this neighborhood can attend North Shore Elementary School which received a B rating from Niche. The school is a proud recipient of the PCCPTA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award and the National Healthy Schools Award. John Hopkins Middle School is a recipient of the Magnet Schools of America School of Distinction Award and is home to the district’s only professional theater at the middle school level. The school has an award-winning Jr. Thespian Troupe and journalism program. St. Petersburg High School received an A rating from Niche and is home to the first International Baccalaureate Diploma Program in the state. Students can participate in the AVID program, AP classes and Dual Enrollment with St. Pete College. St. Petersburg High has an award-winning chorus and band along with competitive athletic programs that regularly place in the state championships.

Stretch your legs at Historic Round Lake Park. Relax in the gazebo and enjoy the sounds of the water fountain at the center of the pond. Take a walk around the water on paved walking trails beneath the shade of large trees. Millenium Youth Park is another option with a playground for children to enjoy. The nearby Crescent Lake Park is filled with beautiful banyan trees and an impressive collection of amenities. Start a pickup game with friends at the Huggins-Stengel Sports Complex or work on your swing at the tennis and pickleball courts. Let your little ones explore the playground or bring your four-legged friend to the dog park. Go for a jog on the trails or bring a blanket for a session of Healthy St. Pete's Free Yoga.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, stop by Uptown Eats for hearty flavor and pastries fresh from the oven. Pair a delicious breakfast with some locally roasted coffee. Flippers Pizzeria is the perfect place to grab a slice. They pride themselves on using fresh ingredients and brick firing to perfection. Fado Portuguese is known for its impressive wine cellar and famous "Pastel de Nata" baked daily in-house.

Easy access to Interstate 295 means it’s just a short drive south to Downtown St. Petersburg or north to golf courses and beaches.

GreatSchools: The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
