Easy access to the city from a serene Salem neighborhood
Sunnyslope is a quiet residential neighborhood on the south end of Salem. Despite its location on the city's edge, this neighborhood is well-connected to the rest of the area. "You have probably five access points to get you north, south, east and west. It's phenomenal access," says Shareef Hagag, a Realtor with HomeSmart Realty Group and 10 years of experience in Salem. "I think that's primarily what's drawing people there. Number one is accessibility. And all the stores and restaurants are trying to come this way." One example is the local Costco, which moved to the south side of Salem in March of 2022, bringing wholesale groceries and home goods closer to a fast-growing part of the city. With major roads like Liberty Street, Kuebler Boulevard and Commercial Street nearby, getting to other shopping and dining areas in the city is a breeze.

A quick drive to local Salem businesses
While the neighborhood is primarily residential, restaurants and stores are close by. "You'd have to go down to Commercial Street, which is maybe half a mile or so, to get to a good restaurant. It's an easy distance of fast-food and other neighborhood-owned restaurants," says Priscilla Beggs, the owner and principal broker at Zenith Realty, who has been selling real estate in Salem for 26 years. French Press Coffee and Crepes, a local roaster and café on Commercial Street, serves breakfast sandwiches, pastries and various coffee drinks. McMenamins Thompson Brewery & Public House is on Liberty Road, a little closer to the neighborhood. This brewery is part of a regional chain of restaurants and is in an early 1900s home that belonged to a Civil War veteran. The spot is known for its bar food, house-made beer and cozy fire pits. Nearby supermarkets include Roth's Fresh Market on Liberty Road or Costco on Kuebler Boulevard.

Homes with two or three bedrooms typically cost between $300,000 and $550,000. Larger homes with four or five bedrooms can cost between $600,0000 and $800,000.
