Suburban convenience, mountainside serenity and easy access to Salt Lake City
Located along Interstate 80 in southeast Salt Lake City, Canyon Rim is a residential neighborhood beside the commercial suburb of Millcreek. "Millcreek is like its own little city," says Realtor Camilla Granasen. "There's shopping, coffee shops, vintage stores, nail salons, workout studios. It's very convenient." Canyon Rim is a flat neighborhood with a few parks mixed in, where the mountain ranges east of Salt Lake City serve as a backdrop for day-to-day life. Its proximity to both Millcreek and the mountains combines the convenience of the suburbs with the serenity of mountainside living, and its location along I-80 makes it easy to get to the heart of the city. "Canyon Rim is very popular because it's close to the freeways," Granasen says. "It's an easy place to live."
Cottages and ranch-style homes from the 1940s to 1960s
Canyon Rim has single-family homes built primarily between the 1940s and 1960s. Its architecture offers a charming mix of cottages and ranch-style homes with a few mansions and townhouse communities. "Because it's an established neighborhood, you get mature trees," Granasen says. "Even though you're close to the freeway, you don't get a ton of freeway noise. You get great mountain views, and it's a flatter part of town that's more walkable." Home values here are more than $100,000 higher than the average for Salt Lake City. Sales prices concentrate primarily between $600,000 and $1 million, but large new builds and recently renovated homes sometimes see price tags upwards of $2 million.
