Salt Lake City neighborhood on foothills of Wasatch Range

Foothill Sunnyside is among a handful of east Salt Lake City neighborhoods that sit near sacred grounds. The neighborhood is right at the mouth of Emigration Canyon, which is where impressed Mormon pioneer and figure Brigham Young uttered the famous words: “This is the right place.” The neighborhood remains impressive with its mix of million-dollar homes and myriad of recreational options. The proximity to both Emigration Canyon and the foothills of the Wasatch Range puts the neighborhood within minutes of quality hiking and biking opportunities. The neighborhood also borders the Bonneville Golf Course and is located about a mile down the road from Utah’s Hogle Zoo. About the neighborhood’s appeal, Joel Carson, principal broker with Utah Real Estate, says: “Really, I would say it’s the proximity to just everything. The mountains are right there, so you can go mountain biking, hiking. The lakes and waterfalls are nearby, and there are lots of dog parks and city parks. You can get out and do your thing.”

I-80 travel to ski resorts

Foothill Drive connects to Interstate 80, which provides a route to the region’s ski resorts. Among those places is the renowned Park City area. East Sunnyside Avenue, which turns into Emigration Canyon Road, remains a well used route for those who want to reach some of the outdoor attractions east of the city. “This used to be how people got to Park City decades before I-80 was completed,” says Babs De Lay, the principal broker for Urban Utah Homes & Estates, about Emigration Canyon Road. I have lived in this zip code most of my life. I moved a few neighborhoods away for a year, but moved into my current apartment recently. I have really enjoyed the safety and friendliness of the neighborhood growing up.
