Coolcrest
Ranch-style and custom-built homes that rarely come on the market
The neighborhood embraces a variety of housing styles. Traditional ranch-style homes sit on the same street as sprawling custom-built properties, many with horseshoe driveways, stucco exteriors and terracotta tile roofs that draw inspiration from Mission Revival architecture. More recent construction includes Modern transitional homes built around the early 2020s, and the neighborhood’s southern half features manufactured homes. Coolcrest offers residents a bit more space than surrounding subdivisions, with a median lot size of around three-quarters of an acre. However, homes rarely come on the market here, and only three sold over the last year. Properties have an average estimated value of just over $350,000 and typically sell after an average of 84 days on the market, nearly twice the national average. Coolcrest doesn’t have an HOA, which differentiates it from many of the nearby master-planned communities that require residents to pay monthly HOA dues. The Northside Independent School District serves the Far West Side
The neighborhood is part of the Northside Independent School District, which earns an overall grade of B-plus from Niche. Students may attend the C-plus-rated Dr. Linda G. Mora Elementary School and B-minus-rated Gregory Luna Middle School before moving on to William J. Brennan High School, which receives a B. The district participates in The University of Texas at Austin’s OnRamps program, which allows high school students to take dual-enrollment courses through UT Austin.Shopping centers, grocery stores and restaurants on Potranco Road
